2023.06.01 17:26 Renisia Currently picking parts for PC, any input?
Hello, komodos, a few days/weeks ago I asked around about gaming laptops in the DCT. One of you guys mentioned i should get a PC instead. Budget concerns that i only realized now made me think this is the feasible option.
I'm currently planning on getting this build
https://www.enterkomputer.com/simulasi/preview/H2XVGPKJ Any recommendations or input guys? I'm not a PC building person so i just used whatever motherboard and other parts recommended by their preset rakitan options. The ones i did change are :
- Processor : Originally i3-12100F, switched for i5-12400 (albeit im curious if the i3 is good too)
- VGA : Forgot originally, but currently it is an MSI GTX 1660 Super. There seems to be a cheaper alternative, branded Arktek for both GTX 1660 Super and Ti. Someone mentioned i should switch to RX 6650, but i decided if i want to switch, i should change it to an ASRock Radeon RX 6600 8 GB. Considerations are, my limited research shows that AMD is competitive in the lowemidrange areas and give better FPS, albeit lesser performance in ultra settings of games (which i'm not really looking for). Also I rarely would play newer 3A titles, so i'm not sure if the Radeon GPU would be a problem.
- Monitor : Not sure which gaming monitor i should look for, but the remaining budget i have is limited, so i must limit it to 1.5 jt or so. Any recommendations?
I'm very new in this PC building world, so please feel free to give input. My budget is around 12 jt (with monitor, maybe 12-12.5 jt). Thanks!

2023.06.01 17:23 cockatoo-bandit First-time build - Looking for feedback
Planning on making my first build after being a long-term laptop user. Can you provide any feedback/experiences with these? Mainly any compatibility issues, inaccessible slots, or something I may have missed in terms of features?
Please don't mind the vender specific prices. I will still search for better prices than on Amazon. Some of the basic requirements I had when making the list: * Covering gaming for at least a few years. I don't care much for the highest requirements 4 gaming. Examples of the games would be Elden Ring, Total War Warhammer, and Guild Wars. * Programming (compilation heavy) and virtualization. I'm considering upgrading the build to 64GB, but for now, 32 GB will be enough. * More CPU-heavy tasks with fast SSD access since some of the stuff I work on in my free time tends to be about scanning files. This means I will sometimes put a heavier load on CPU (Let's say 6+ cores at 100% for several minutes). * Ability to run some of the Adobe graphic design tools (no 3D rendering) for occasional use by my partner.
It seems they will introduce some new AI features there, and I am not sure what kind of requirements that will bring. But at the same time, looking into the current generation of GPUs, I can't bring myself to invest in the pricier ones, and anything other than NVIDIA seems to be a no-go for this. Extra notes: * I have some 1TB SSDs on hand that are not present in the build and wanted to use all of the slots I can from the motherboard. The one listed would go for the Windows partition (since it tends to bloat with the VMs). I might also add some HDDs for backups
The current build I cooked up:

2023.06.01 17:02 DiazExMachina Would it be useful to "reset" my PC?
| Greetings everyone. I have this desktop since late 2017, and it was previously owned by my brother since (I think) 2015. It rarely gave me problems, but sometimes it gets slow, usually if I play a game and have some other process in background, like Discord. I know I should get at least another 8GB of RAM, and upgrade my CPU, and I probably will do that for my birthday/Christmas, but as I ask, would a fresh install of Windows 10 help making my machine work better? I have an HDD dedicated for documents and an SSD for games, so I would only lose a few programs which I could easily reinstall. Thank you in advance for your help and time.
- Gehäuse be quiet! - Pure Base 500 schwarz schallgedämmt
- CPU (Prozessor) Intel Core i5-13600K, 6x 3.50GHz + 8x 2.60 GHz, 24MB L3-Cache
- Mainboard MSI Pro Z790-P WIFI DDR5 Intel Z790
- Grafikkarte NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB MSI Gaming X
- Arbeitsspeicher 64GB DDR5-5200 Corsair Vengeance 2x 32GB
- SSD (M.2 / PCIe) 1TB Samsung 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 bis zu 7.000 MB/s lesen
- Festplatte 2TB Seagate IronWolf 5.900 RPM
- Netzteil 850W - be quiet! Pure Power 12 M
- Soundkarte HD-Audio Onboard
https://www.mifcom.de/laden/ny5dotdq/
Vielen Dank

2023.06.01 16:31 En3rgYz3r Error Code 43 on GPU in device manager, white horizontal lines, windows doesn't recognize GPU.
Hey guys, my friend is having a big big problem with his new GPU. Let me give you some context:
Some months ago, suddenly, white horizontal lines has appeared on his monitor, we thought that was because of the GPU and/or the PSU. So, he got the GPU out and played using his CPU integrated graphics until now. He got a hold on a tested and working Nvidia GTX 1060 AND a brand new PSU but the problem with the strange white lines on his monitor was still there, we searched the web and tried to solve it thinking it may be a software problem but we took in consideration the option that the motherboard PCIe port was also damaged or something. We tried the following solutions:
- Complete driver re-install using DDU and safe mode and all that.
- Windows re-install
That's all that we found on the web and we tried the two solutions with different steps several times.
Now, why do we think that it may not be a hardware problem? Because those strange vertical/horizontal lines weren't always there. Let me explain the details:The first time that we tried to solve the problem (yesterday) he installed the drivers for the GPU both manually and automatically using GeForce Experience and it still didn't work, BUT he shut down the PC, slept for three hours and after powering it back on the issue was gone, no strange lines, when right clicking on the monitor, the option for Nvidia Control Panel would come up, and also, there was NO yellow triangle in device manager the windows recognized the GPU, everything was fine.
!!! Now, after updating his windows version, the problem came back: We have the yellow triangle in device manager that says Error code: 43 when we right click and go to the properties and there is not Nvidia control panel anywhere at all, the GPU doesn't get recognized I guess. We can't explain why it worked before and suddenly, after a windows update, it won't work no matter what we try to do. We want some advice and see if it is actually a hardware problem. !!!His motherboard is an old DELL 0GY6Y8. Below you can find a photo of the lines.

2023.06.01 15:56 HoodyUniverse Building my first PC
Hello, I'm hopefully looking to get and build my first PC, I'm not too knowledgable about computer parts, and it will mostly be used for gaming. After some research these are the parts I have settled on:
CPU: Intel Core i5-13400F 4.6 GHz 10-Core Processor
GPU: Asus DUAL OC GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB Video Card
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE
Motherboard: MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200
Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
Case: NZXT H5 Flow ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair CV650 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
Case Fans: ARCTIC P12 56.3 CFM 120 mm Fans 5-Pack
I would really appreciate it if anyone could let me know if all the parts are good (or if I am missing anything), and if possible to reduce the cost by any cheaper alternative options. I really don't want to increase the budget more than the current parts. Thank you!

2023.06.01 15:51 DeepSherbert9056 How to upgrade my gaming PC to run strategy (paradox) games faster
Hi guys, I'm currently planning to upgrade my PC. I mostly play paradox games like Hoi4/ Victoria 3/ CK3 or other strategic games like bannerlord or total war. This pc is from around 2018, however the problem is that when my games reach a bit of the lategame they run very slowly which is kinda frustrating, so I thought the best solution would be to upgrade. I was wondering if you could give me some suggestions on what I can improve to make my games run faster.
My current specs are:

2023.06.01 15:35 Unregistered_Davion Need advice on picking a CPU
So my last PC build was in 2015. I've been using that since then and It's worked fairly well. I have noticed it struggles on some newer games at max graphics settings so I'm kicking the idea of building a new rig. For context, I have an i7-4790k and a GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3060 with 32G of DDR3 ram.
My question is this, what is the better option as far a performance now? I see a lot of back and forth on AMD vs intel but since I haven't built anything in 8 years I haven't really kept up with things.
I generally play Mechwarrior 5 (modded) Minecraft (very modded) Generation Zero, racers (Assetto Corsa, Need for Speed ect.) and city builders like City skylines and Transport Fever 2.
I was also thinking about getting a 3060 Ti or 3080 Ti for this build but am open to advice in regards to this as well.
So any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

2023.06.01 15:26 isente Upgrade from 1650 super to 5600 XT, worth it?
For background, I have a relatively low-consumption (350W VS PSU from Corsair), low budget mini-ITX currently with:
- AsRock Z390M
- i5-9400
- GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER WINDFORCE OC 4G
- Samsung SSD 870 EVO 1 TB
- 2X8Gb Ballistic 3000 MHz
- All in a Fractal Design 304
I almost exclusively use it for gaming at 1080p (although it's connected to a 4K TV, but it's in the living room and 1080p is more than fine from couch-distance), and I'm usually playing games released at least >5 years ago (I think the most modern game I played is Nier Automata). The 1650S was a great surprise since it can hold very well in high settings at 1080p.
Anyway, a friend is disposing of his 5600 XT and I could have it for ~100€, so I'm wondering if the upgrade is worth it? Also, the 5600 XT has 25W+ TDP than the 1650S, but I guess it's still fine with my PSU? (I have actually no idea).
Edit: I should have said, it's a Sapphire Pulse RX 5600 XT OC 6GB GDDR6

2023.06.01 15:21 Beginning_Paint_5020 Random restarts on PC built with used parts
Hi, I have tried fixing the issue, but I haven't been succesful yet.
On random occasions (sometimes multiple times a day, sometimes a few days go by without this) my PC randomly restarts. The sound starts looping, the screen freezes and the pc restarts after a few seconds of being stuck.
Just before posting I have disabled Global C-States, not yet sure if it helped or not.
The build has 8gbs of Kingston Fury RAM, a Ryzen 7 1700, an asrock x370 killer sli motherboard, and an MSI Geforce GTX 970.
After the restarts I get 3 Errors in the event viewer of Windows 10:

2023.06.01 14:39 BarbarossaMaximus Stuttering out of nowhere
So I loaded up the sim today to do some practice and for no reason that I can work out, I'm suddenly getting terrible stuttering. Basically it's like the game is dropping a bunch of frames every second or so but the FPS/performance meters are showing no issues at all. I have emailed iRacing support for any help they can offer but thought I'd try here too.
My specs are:
- i7 10th gen 1075H u/2.6GHz
- GTX 1660 Ti
- 16GB RAM
So far I have tried all of the following with no luck:
- Restart computer
- Restart computer and rerun graphics config
- Update NVidia drivers
- Full uninstall and reinstall of iracing
Everything loads up fine, there are no indicators of performance issues, but the stuttering is still there. I'm just at a loss, literally nothing has changed with my PC and there wasn't even an iRacing update (that I'm aware of) to screw things up. Any ideas of things to try would be hugely appreciated.
