I’m at my first festival and I hate it

2023.05.28 04:07 itllbalright I’m at my first festival and I hate it

The festival is great, the vibes are awesome, people are cool, the music is banging, there’s stuff to buy, things to eat, and lots cool art everywhere.
But for some reason, I can’t stop complaining in my head. I just feel so bad for spending as much as I did. I ran out of social battery. I have a head ache and it’s unbearably hot. And the music is non stop, there’s so much noise everywhere. Everything is dirty, and I can’t wait until this is over.
Festivals, concerts, events, going out in the conventional sense is not something I enjoy.
I hate drinking alcohol and hitting on people. I dislike the typical party scene.
I don’t know why I thought a festival would be different. I made a huge mistake and wasted a lot of hard earned money. I feel absolutely terrible.
This is my first festival and will probably be my last one. Unless I’m going with someone special or a group of friends, I absolutely am never going by myself again.
I was trying to push my boundaries, get out of my comfort zone and practice socializing more so I went by myself because I think I should do this at least once before I get too old.
What a complete disaster. This the worst time I am having in my entire life.
I would much rather stay home, eat a nice home cooked meal, read a book and just hang out with someone special- listen to music.
One more night :(

My decants will generally come in screw top jars with a reducer and printed, easy-to-read labels. The following brands will come in vials instead of jars (unless you get 2mLs or more, in which case they’ll come in jars): Alpha Musk, Death & Floral, Possets, Haus of Gloi, and Hexennacht. I ensure that my materials and working space are kept very clean. I decant with disposable, single-use 1mL pipettes and check my work twice with a scale to ensure accurate fill level.

2023.05.28 03:06 YetAnotherProfile51 1st concert at Fiddlers -advice please

I'm attending a conference at fiddler's Green, which starts at 6:30 p.m. This is my first time at fiddler's and frankly my first time in a very long time going to a concert. I have lawn seats. What time do I need to show up to get a decent spot on the grass? Does everyone stand a whole night, or do they generally lie down? (I'm still recovering from surgery, so standing are sitting the whole time will be a bit tough for me.)
It looks like I can bring a 24 oz water bottle and a small blanket and (depending on the weather) a raincoat.
What food concessions do they have there, if any? The website doesn't mention them.
Any other tips? Thank you!

2023.05.28 01:37 Charlie11732 Philly show

First concert, we bought nosebleed seats and were wondering if we came early enough would we be able to walk in and stand on the floor near the stage? Is the floor standing seats an actual ticket we to buy or is it up for grabs as long as you have a ticket? I see a lot of TikTok’s of people saying it’s worth it to leave early

2023.05.28 01:12 _SinisterMinister_ Want to see a free concert? Walk right in the stage door...

60% of the time it works everytime.
To be clear. This is not advised...
Especially at large venues/stadiums/arenas or high profile festivals where security is a lot tighter.
If you are caught, you will, at the very least, be removed... sometimes rather physically...from the property.
If the venue or festival management are particularly prickish, you could potentially be arrested for trespassing as well.
However, smaller mid size venues, theaters, and festivals are a lot easier.
First, dress the part. Techs in the industry have an almost universal wardrobe. Depending on the season, a solid dark (grey/black) t-shirt or hoodie with some jeans or cargo shorts will do just fine.
Next you will need to spend a little money on Ebay.
I know, I know. The title says 'Want to see a FREE concert'... but everything you're buying will be reusable assuming you plan on trying this more than once.
Walking in empty handed doesn't sell as well as walking in carrying gear of some sort.
What you are looking for are a few used black NL8, NL4, or XLR cables. Not a bunch... Just a few will do the trick. Stick with lengths around 6'-10' or so. Smaller doesn't play well, and bigger ones are a pain to haul around. Buy cheap broken ones if you can. They only need to look the part.
Once you aquire the cables, coil them up and secure them together with a velcro wrap or some black para cord.
Once you have the basics, if you want to add a little extra authenticity to your kit, get a few laminated crew/all access passes from some artists and tours that have been through your area recently. They don't need to be expensive collectable ones from big name bands. You can get good looking ones from from smaller bands and venues for a few dollars on Ebay.
You're not trying to pass these off as passes for the show you're trying to see. They are simply to add some authenticity to the kit so ...at a glance... you look like a real crew member.
Throw the passes on a lanyard and tie off the lanyard to a belt loop at the 2 or 10 o'clock position so they are hanging just below the shirt or hoodie that you are wearing.
Now, if you really want to go full method and really sell it, you can also buy a broken Motorola CP200 and speaker mic as well. Clip the radio to your front pants pocket and the speaker mic to your collar.
Last but certainly not least. Look confident, grab your coil of cables, and head for the stage door.
Smaller venues and tours often rely on local vendors (audio, lighting, rigging, backline, etc) for their shows. It's not uncommon for multiple crews from multiple vendors to be on-site at the same time, so it's pretty easy to just blend in.
If possible, try to avoid walking in solo. It can be pulled off, but it's much easier if you can try to enter just behind some other techs or hands.
Once inside find a place to stash the cables so you can easily retrieve them when you leave.
Lastly, find a quiet place where you can keep your head down, out of the way, and wait for doors.
Or....if this all sounds a little to involved, just make friends with an actual crew member so they can sneak you in the door.
Your results may vary.
Vaya con dios.

2023.05.27 23:52 aldrinjaysac Questions about the lawn section @Shoreline Amphitheater (The Cure concert)

I'm planning on buying a last minute ticket to see The Cure tonight.
How is the lawn section at this venue? I never been to a concert there before but I see tickets going for $50 while the cheapest upper concourse seat is over $100.
If I do get lawn tickets, how early should I be there to get the best spot possible?
Or should I just splurge a little extra money for the upper concourse?
Thanks ya'll, I can wait to finally see them perform 'Just Like Heaven' in person ❤️🖤

2023.05.27 23:50 valentinemick Getting home plan

Hey everyone. So excited for this! But just realized that we booked a single coach ticket to the festival and have nothing planned for getting back to London. Past years I’ve found that the coaches are a bit of a free for all so long you’re there on time as the coach is departing. Is this a risky move? Could I pay for the seat if I’m there? Any tips are appreciated as I’m trying to avoid the 3pm 4.5hr coach ticket with a change over available on the National Express site as I’ll 100% be a dead man come the Monday. TIA

2023.05.27 22:46 fbi-surveillance-F How to talk about money & do I 25F ask my boyfriend 29M to pay me back for concert tickets that I invited him to?

TLDR: Sorry, this is so long. I have paid for the majority of things in our time together and am starting to feel uncomfortable with this imbalance. I planned for us to go to two big concerts recently, which he wants to go to, and because I have paid for more things, I think he should at least pay his part. However, since I "invited" him, I think he expects me to pay. I'm not sure how to approach this - both the payment for the concerts (if it's even reasonable for him to pay his part) and the greater issue of money in our relationship. I need advice on how to have this discussion and what to focus on.

My boyfriend (29M) and I (25F) have a hard time talking about money. We've been dating for almost a year and in a relationship for 6-7 months now. On our first date, he asked to split the bill, and ever since then, I've been uncomfortable broaching the topic. We would split everything down to the penny, which I felt was petty in some way. I brought my discomfort up early on, and we agreed to alternate paying reasonably similar costs rather than penny-pinch exactly who owed what. He had a job making ~20K/year more than I did, but it became a toxic workplace.

After 2 months, he quit his job without planning and started looking for another job. During his two months of unemployment, he wanted to save money, so we didn't go "out" very much. This was frustrating for me, because there were a lot of low-budget things I wanted to do/explore/experience together, and was willing to pay for, but he wouldn't go. Yet, he paid for things for his family and friends a few times in this period. I also felt insecure, having given him and his family gifts, and him not reciprocating. I felt there were things he still could've put more effort into, like flowers, letters, cooking, acts of service, etc. Except for 1-2 instances, going out 2-3x a week, I would pay for everything every time, and usually drove and paid for gas as well. He never thanked me for paying for stuff, but would sometimes thank me for driving or for loving him despite it being a hard time for him.

I either offered or he asked me to pay, but we never had a larger discussion about money or him paying me back once he was recovered. Yet, he would make comments about buying me things once he was getting paid regularly. I kind of assumed that when he got a job, he'd be willing to go out more again and pay me back in some way (such as paying for a few dates before we started splitting again, do something nice to thank me, or something else). We made a list together of all the dates and places we would go.

I understood that he was trying to save up, and that he also felt insecure, so I focused on spending time together, having other important conversations, and just uplifting/supporting/loving him. There were other challenges we both had in life and in the relationship, and we worked through those together. Overall, the relationship is stronger than any I've ever had, and we're very serious about each other. I trust him more than anyone else.

He has now settled into a new job, that he was initially very excited about and enjoyed, and he has been making significantly more money than me in. He has recovered financially and is spending a lot of money on his hobbies. I am a little nervous for him as he doesn't seem to be investing or saving for his future very much, something that I put a lot of focus on for myself. He still does not want to go out much, and we have only done a few things on our list of dates. He got mad at me for doing too many outdoorsy things on the list at one point, and that hurt my feelings, so I have been trying to do what he wants. He paid for one nicer dinner, a place of his choosing. Otherwise, we have been spending more time doing low-key things, and I have needed to plan everything else.

We are back to "alternating" paying, but I have somehow ended up being the one to pay 2/3 of the time, and drive almost all of the time. He has never paid for my gas or helped me with the gas. He has started opening doors for me sometimes, but other times he lets it close in my face or walks in front of me when I open the door. I told him I was hurt that I was making all of the plans, and he told me he needed to put in more effort, and would. He hasn't made any plans since then.

Because he makes more money than me, and some of the subtle comments that he's made, I think he would feel like I am after him for his money if I asked him to pay for things. It's why I am uncomfortable and insecure about bringing money up because that has never been the case. I love him for him. I am fairly independent in my own life, and I make enough for me. I have paid off all my debts and helped my siblings to pay back some of theirs as well. I would be deeply offended if he saw me as a gold digger. But paying for everything has slowed my progress in building my savings/investments, though I've been conservative enough to still save. This is impacting my future, and my family is relying on me in some ways.

The truth is, particularly because I've paid for and done so much, I think he should be paying for everything at this point. It's very expensive to look nice - waxing, clothes, hair, makeup - and he likes those things about me. He's mentioned a couple times how I don't do my nails - which I love to do, but have had to cut out of my budget to maintain my savings. Were I not paying for everything, well, I have hobbies and interests and activities and projects that I'm interested in investing in as well. I feel that it's become unfair that I have paid for more, and him paying me back is bottom priority to him compared to spending money on other things - which I want to just support him on, his hobbies make him happy. But I have been more considerate/compromising than him in a lot of other things as well. It is not that I do these things transactionally, and I don't even necessarily want him to pay me back to the penny, or necessarily pay for everything - it's the idea that matters to me. I think nice gestures and more effort on his part would be more than enough. Our relationship is not equal.

I don't think he is trying to take advantage of me. I think he is generally just somewhat aloof and in his own head, not completely thoughtful of me on this topic. I wonder if any of this has occurred to him at all. He can be very thoughtful of me in other ways, and I know he loves and cares for me, but communication has always been something we both struggle with. He is avoidant, self-blaming, and initially very defensive/in denial for these things, while I second-guess myself, causing not to bring it up, and escalate more towards "worst case" interpretations. I have a very hard time communicating how I feel, accurately and in a way he understands, as I often have to think things "fully through" or type it out like this before I understand myself. He always shuts down, thinking I'm trying to end things when I'm not. We have been working to grow in this for other topics. It's been a lot of coaching on both ends. For me, it's my first more serious relationship as I've simply ended past relationships without communicating. But, he has called me the love of his life, and I am pretty sure we have something special that I want to be life-long.

As for what's going on right now... Even though he was intially very excited, he is talking about quitting his new job, which I feel is very rash. I encouraged him to apply/interview elsewhere before he does that, and he agreed. I am worried he feels secure that I will just pay for everything. Compared to before, a direct family member now has a serious illness, and I really cannot afford to do that.

I had also bought concert tickets for myself and a plus one for two major upcoming concerts - artists that I love so much and really wanted to do something nice for myself. I thought I would bring him, a family member or a friend. I thought I would have the other person pay, or if I couldn't find anyone, I'd simply sell the other ticket. However, he has been disrespectful to my music choices and doesn't really like either of these artists. Yet, he said he wanted to go with me. I said I didn't want him to come if it meant he wouldn't enjoy it, and that I would be uncomfortable and not able to fully enjoy it when it was important for me to experience these concerts with these artists. He said it would hurt his feelings if I didn't allow him to go. We talked about it, and he said he was committed to having a good time and supporting me to enjoy it.

One of them is Beyonce floor seats... really highly coveted, expensive, and sold out immediately in that section in my area. He doesn't know a single Beyonce song and has skipped or trash-talked them when I play it. But he stopped since we had our conversation, and has made it a point to sit through them now... which I notice, while gritting his teeth/biting his tongue. Still, I want him to go if he is committed to enjoying himself with me. I know it's going to be a blast, so I think he is capable. If he can do that, I think I'd have more fun with him than anyone else. He seems to be excited and wants to do whatever I need him to. We have some time for him to at least learn a few songs.

I don't know what to do about these concerts, because I bought the tickets originally, and invited him to come along. I intended to have the other person pay their part, but he has not offered and I am unsure if I should be the one to pay since I invited him. But, it's a lot of money, and even if he were to pay me for both of these tickets, he'd technically still owe me money from the amount I've spent in the full time of our relationship. I do want him to come, but again, the imbalance sours it a bit for me. I think it'd be even worse, maybe even ruined, to uninvite him though - I want him to be there now. I don't know if asking for the money would just add unnecessary strain to the relationship, and if I should just let this go.

I just don't know how to approach this. It's a big topic, and I can see him getting overwhelmed with it being something spanning the whole relationship. I am afraid of him interpreting me as a gold digger or making him spend money on me where he doesn't even want to. But it's getting to the point where I'm developing other insecurities about us because of it, and building uncertainty, so it's time to talk about it. Any advice about how to approach this and what is most important to emphasize, or how to word things, would be very appreciated.

If you made it all the way down here - thank you.

2023.05.27 22:40 fbi-surveillance-F How to talk about money & do I 25F ask my boyfriend 29M to pay me back for concert tickets that I invited him to?
