yet another Dr. wont addrress pain but wants me to talk to psych....how and what does that solve? beyond heaping more cost, inconvenience and hurdles to BASIC treatment. EVERYONE punts me.
I can not think positively when im vomiting due to vertigo to say nothing of the fact that I have next to no quality of life. I have a bobblehead I CANNOT physically support my head. I lay in recliner in the dark, due to photesensitivity , ringing ears, spinning room, heart rate jacks through the roof triggering a PHYSICAL/visceral panic attack, at all times must be supporting the natural Upper cerbical curvature which i have been physically unable to maintain for nearly two years.
Denied my ablation due to high blood pressure which is pain response? That was the final straw, I gave up three months ago, my wife is in charge of appts. ill do what she says because i love her and my suffering breaks her heart.
Why is a structural failure and a traumatic injury when it occurs is a referral to mental health?
How are multiple dr.s refusing to listen or treat the issue at hand? I should have been put in HALO collar immediately at first dr visit post 9/21/21 spontaneous fractures. Instead my former neuro refused to see me and said "i cant help you you need a teaching hospital."
11 Years of history with neuro due to my ankylosing spondylitis. HE COULDNT CARE LESS. Had to start from 0 crippled as my "medical team" just ignored my pleas.
NO one will authorize a standing flexion and extension xray. Ive given up any dreams of standing mri flexion and extension so they can FINALLY understand that my spinal canal is being impinged due to unstable C2/C3 vertebra. Vertebrae are misaligning with any rotation of skull or head tilt.

I love the new season. Don’t take the next comment out of context; but I want more related to YOUR gameplay. Overclocks and builds are what makes DRG thrive (along with 800 other things). It got me thinking.
No new gear is disappointing (but not discouraging or a knock on the update).
I know the devs said they don’t have a desire to overlock grenades (as they said they’d just make new grenades instead).
I’d suggest an idea along creating overclocks for the core of each class. As this would create a possible imbalance in power; I’d recommend this being added with an increased Hazard (6!!) or new form of EDD to create more challenge. Season 4 may already add enough difficulty so who knows may not be necessary.
This idea would create some extremely unique builds and allow for more in-depth play style for each build.
Driller’s core:
REINFORCED POWER DRILLS
Some may argue it’s C4 and war crimes but besides that; it’s the drills.
My idea would be build on the idea of your core being overclocked. For Driller I’d outline starting with 3 overclocks.
Stable: Bloody Status Efficiency
Drills consume less fuel when damaging inflicted status (fire, corrosion, or freeze) affected enemies.
Simple and somewhat similar to the tier 4 upgrade (Bloody Cold Drills), creating a strong pair for focusing on crushing bug.
Dwarves who drink smart stout would be able to figure out those numbers and stuff.
Balanced: Super Tuned Gears
Drills mining rate and movement while digging increased. Additionally a small fuel increase with a small damage decrease.
For the dwarves who want to swim through rock, and sometimes stone.
Unstable: IT BURNS!
sips smart stout NEW Heat +4m Area Heat Range (“Heat Radiance”) While drilling +10 Heat (Direct Drill Damage) generates heat +some cool flames inside the drills while drilling- +5 damage +7seconds overheat duration +25% overheat generation (get hot fast)
I think to balance this guy out; instead of losing ammo I’ve targeted that a maniac driller must use some brain energy to monitor their heat gauge to get any real use out of this OC.

All round more efficient and beneficial to all parties and gives the Gunner more flexibility.

For Gunners who embrace the accessibility and benefits of acorn stairlifts and aren’t hurt by scouts words. He now makes his Zipline only desirable to his people.
As a gunner fires his weapon while on these zip lines (complete colour and visual effect of these new lines) he will regain ammo. Each line has 10% resupply for a gunner primary weapon (not secondary or grenades or other). Once the Zipline is empty (no ammo left to resupply the primary) the Zipline gains 25 movement speed (75 speed reduction with ammo, reduced to a 50 speed reduction when empty).

+25% fall damage +2.5 damage when passing through enemies +250 max speed NEW Scout can anchor to an enemy and deal direct damage on anchor impact as well as dwarf impact (2.5 direct anchor damage and 2.5 direct dwarf damage); however some exoskeletons take no damage (oppressor, praetorian, grunt guard front armor) and hitting an oppressor or praetorians armor will result in a smaller knock back effect to a shellback (not as aggressive and not as much damage). This is the same for dreadnoughts but damage would be increased on knockback. So hitting fleshy bits MUST necessary to yield success. +2 second cooldown.
I’d love to hear more ideas and such. I think this would be such a distinct update it would immense to see added and sustain gameplay variety for much longer.

Welcome to the Hub Post for the NFL Top 100 Players of the 2022 Season!

METHODOLOGY

Several years ago we made a decision to focus on ranking just the previous season based on feedback. This year we continued that plan and only ranked players based on their performance during the 2022 regular season, since that is an equal baseline for all players. Post Season play was not considered in the rankings which is a continuation from last year per sub feedback. Additionally, we have increased the games played requirement from 10 games to 11, to be closer in proportion to the prior standard of 10 games in a 16 game season.

• Step 1: Getting the list of representatives. That’s what we did back in January. We started with over 100 rankers which led to 54 completed ranking submissions
  
• Step 2: We began nominating players who ranker’s believe should be considered that have played/ a minimum of 11 regular season games. Rankers from each of the represented fan bases submitted nominations for their own teams' players. This ended up being 194 players in total. This took about a week or so and was the only player pool for consideration.
  
• Step 3: The Grind. Once the pool was created, we utilized rankings threads about what tiers each player is in within their position group. Users were to break players into the following tiers for their peers to evaluate: Top 25, Top 50, Top 100, Top 101-125. This is done to give everyone an idea of where each ranker feels a player should be ranked based on 2022 regular season play only. This is an important distinction; if we were to rank players using past performance while projecting their standing heading into the 2023 season, the context would be completely different. Do you think a player who had a down year in 2022 will bounce back to the top tier player he’s been? I’d probably agree. However, that’s not what users were tasked with evaluating. Furthermore, we did this by positional grouping in individual threads; standard positional breakdown was QB, RB, WR, TE, OT, OG, OC, Interior Defensive Linemen (IDL), EDGE Rushers (EDGE), Off-Ball Linebackers (LB), Safety, CB. If most users have a player in Tier III (Top 100), for example, while someone has him unranked while another has him in Tier I, we’ll be able to find out why they are such outliers publicly. This took roughly 2 months, because we want everyone to have a thorough discussion of any questions they may have. It also helps individual rankers visualize where players should land on their own personal lists prior to submitting. It also helps prevent any funny business.
  

NOTE 1: There were no individual player threads submitted by users discussing the merits of players for or against their placement on the list. Users were also required to complete roughly 80% of these tiers prior to submitting their own lists for the overall average. There were breaks built into the process to allow everyone time to do the work and catch up (if necessary) but inactive users were removed periodically. Hence the difference in the total number of people from the start of the process and the total number of submitted sheets.
NOTE 2: No ranker was forced or encouraged to rank a certain numbelimited number of positions on their list based on some arbitrary formula or idea. For example, NO ONE was told they need to limit the number of QBs on their Top 100 list. No ranker was directed to ignore any positional value; users were encouraged to factor positional value as they saw it into their rankings since it is a largely subjective measure.

• Step 4: After discussions were completed, the remaining users submitted their own, personal Top 125 list. Ranking 125 players was done to get a more accurate and fair average, especially towards the bottom end of the list where rankings tend to wildly fluctuate. Users were given over a week to complete their list.

NOTE 1: Rankings are submitted via individual Google Sheets and auto-compiled into a master list. We reviewed each list for outliers with the help of former rankers to catch individual ranks that are far off the players calculated mean, whether intentionally or accidentally. We calculated a mean rank then the standard deviation for each player. After that, we automatically flagged all ranks outside 1 standard deviation to ensure I caught user submission errors using built-in Google Sheets conditional formatting functions. We also flagged ranks 2 standard deviations or more from the mean to ensure rankers intent with their own list. This was done to ensure flags were identified with as little bias as possible. Conditional Formatting formulas were used to highlight cells to verify automatically to remove subjectivity. Users then had the opportunity to correct any submission errors found prior to finishing the list. We used 1 standard deviation in addition* to 2 since some players had large standard deviations and I wanted to be certain I caught actual mistakes. Rankers were only required to justify ranks 2 standard deviations from the players mean; the keyword here being justify as they weren’t directed to correct them. The entire spirit of this list is to take several individual rankings and find an average.
NOTE 2: All rankings will be made public. That may obviously bring some unwanted heat. But we don’t believe in skirting transparency for convenience sake. This was made known in the Call for Rankers and during the ranking process. This sub will only see the ranks for each post during the reveal. The final post - The Post Mortem - after all reveals will have a data dump with all ranks, individual sheets, and outlier ranking data made available.

• Step 5: With all rankings submitted and corrections made, if any, users lists were locked and their submissions finalized as their own. We then calculated an average rank as noted above. Unranked players were designated with a rank of 140 to tabulate the average for all nominated players. Additionally, one high rank and one low rank were removed from each player's tally to calculate the average rank. Players ranked 101-125 in the average will make the Honorable Mentions list while the remaining 1-100 will be the ranked players. Any ties were broken by their average before the one high rank and one low rank were removed.
  
• Step 6: The Reveal… where we are now!
  

For the second straight season, myself and u/mattkud have been honored to run the ranking process. We cannot thank our predecessors, u/MikeTysonChicken , Mister_Jay_Peg , u/Staple_Overlord , and u/skepticismissurvival , enough for building a platform that allows us to run this list as thoroughly and efficiently as we did. I’d also like to thank all the rankers, both the ones that finished the list and even those that didn’t. Overall they did a great job (except for the ones that mixed up Quincy Williams and Quinnen Williams on their ranking sheet)
After three years of ranking myself, I can tell you this is a fun way of spending the offseason regardless of the praise or scorn you get for the list. You get to interact with people and fanbases that you might not otherwise pay attention to, and analyze and watch players who you might know only in passing. Sometimes I say the final ranking isn’t the most important part, it’s about the journey of rewatching all these great players and having a newfound appreciation for them. I know I’ve become a more knowledgeable football fan since I first signed up to join the list, and I’m sure most rankers would say the same.
The rankers had a number of strategies for how they ranked the players and each was allowed to follow their own personal guidelines within the given parameters and as long as they were not simply using derivatives of other outside rankings. Basically, have your own positions and beliefs. As the reveal progresses, the rankers will have the ability to volunteer their player lists for the revealed numbers and/or where they ranked the listed players as they wish and you are free to engage with them.
Lastly, players will be revealed on the teams they played/finished the 2022 season with.

RANKING RELEASE SCHEDULE

The Honorable Mentions (125-101) will be released Tuesday. June 6th. The reveal will begin on Thursday, June 8th with spots 100-91. From there we will release a list every Tuesday and Thursday. The Post Mortem will follow the week after all reveal threads.

Woven mail is great, it is truly the beating heart of strand

Individually these sources of DR are not an issue, where they become an issue is when they are stacked together

I will use 2 examples here to demonstrate my point

1. Woven mail + Void OS + 100 resil

Woven mail: 60% dr
Void OS: 50%dr + 45 hp shields
100 resil: 30% dr
So, this is a bit harder to calculate, but here we go:
The full brunt of our DR is only present while we have our 45 hp OS up so let's calculate the EHP of this OS
DR: 0.4 × 0.5 × 0.7 = 0.14 (An 86% damage reduction)
EHP= 45hp/ 0.14 = 321EHP
Not we calculate the EHP for the normal guardian health with all DRs except for the OS
DR: 0.4×0.7 = 0.28 (a 72% DR)
EHP: 200hp/0.28 =714EHP
This means in this scenario the total HP of the player is 1035 EHP
For reference that is a 617.5% increase in effective health compared to NO DR

You know what isnt hard? Example number 2

1. Woven mail + 100 resil + 3 resist mods on master NF (resist mods paired with the threat)

The total DR here is: 0.4 × 0.7 × 0.7 = 0.196 (80.4% dr)
Considering that the element of our resist mods also has a 25% damage increase due to threats, this results in a total EHP of:
200/(0.196 × 1.25) = 816 ehp
"What about the other damage types?"
I gonna skip the math here since it is pretty simple.
For the other elements:
Dr: 0.28 (72%) Ehp: 714
To understand truly how much health it FEELS like we have in an activity like this, we an average out these values between the 3 elements
So lets assume in this hypothetical NF that each element is 1/3 of the damage you take.
Disclaimer: This is basically never the case where normally the threat damage is vastly more present, I did it like this to make the final result SMALLER than what it actually is so that people, hopefully, realize how broken this is
Average EHP in example 2:
AVG_ehp = (2*714 +816)/3 =748 ehp
This is, compared to base hp values, a 474% increase in HP

Why this is an issue

This is something I want to elaborate on, this isnt a matter of asking for nerfs for the sake of it... I am asking for DR to be looked at because it creates bad design on activities.
What do I mean? There are 2 ways to create challenging content with these levels of DR
1. Nullifiers: enemies with the ability to remove buffs and abilities from players. This is like the nullifiers fron warframe for reference... one of the most disliked enemies in that game... this would be even worse in destiny, where these enemies would LITERALLY be anti fun/ anti build enemies, how fun does that sound? An enemy whose mere presence throws your build out of the window.

1. Re balance game around DR: Remember when LF launched and people complained about content feeling too brutal? Like Neomuna and legend avalon and such? Imagine that, but rather than a bunch of tanky enemies, we have a bunch of tanky enemies that are balanced to 2-3 shot an 85% dr guardian... we call these one hit kills. We have already seen design similar to this in the Reckoning activity days, I am not making this stuff up, we already lived it.

Both of these solutions are anti-fun solutions, and even though they solve the issue they, literally, arent beneficial to either casuals or hardcore
For casuals, shit just becomes unnecessarily balanced towards min maxed builds.
For hardcores the game just becomes unbalanced and everyone will be running a SINGULAR build everywhere
No one wants these solutions, but all that is left is to nerf
If bungie wants to nerf it right, they need to future proof this dr system... rather than nerf woven mail (which is a whole other discussion) they can tackle the true issue
DR STACKING

Diminishing returns

Diminishing return in this case could come in many various ways, but I am gonna tackle it in a very specific way, because it is simpler to explain effects and understand the workings behind
DRV - Damage resistance value
P - Priority List
N - Number of DRV element in list P list
TDR - Total damage resistance
The system could work like this:
Your TDR would be equal to multiplicative stacking DRs divided by their respective N value, which is determined by an established P list
"Wtf did you just say?" Here is an example
When stacking Woven mail (60%) and max resil (30%) the game would set Woven mail as the priority, as it is the higher value, so, it is attributed as the firs ELEMENT of a list, the second element is of course the 30% from resil
Your total DR would then be:
Woven mail 60% divided by N; since it is the priority it's N = 1 so the DR is 60%
100 resil 30% divided by N; since it is the second highest value N = 2, so the DR is 15%
This way:
TDR = 0.4 *0.85= 0.34 (a total 66% DR)
On the previous system this resulted in 72% DR
This results in a ~20% reduction in effective health from previous to the "new" system
Following from the example, if we added some other source of DR (like a 25% dr source) it would be divided by N = 3, since it is the 3rd in the list of priority, so the actual DR is of 25%/3, so the total dr value is:
TDR = 0.40.850.92 = 0.3125 (68% dr)
As you can see, the more DR buffs we add the less it affects our total damage reduction

The positives

This would result in a couple of things...
Firstly and most important, absurdly high DR are much harder to achieve, but at the same time, this still allows high DR buffs to have value, and some other dr sources to have a place too, but the more you stack it the less effective it becomes
Secondly, it would allow for more diversity in mods
Chest mods are basically governed by resit mods in most high end activities, since well, 30% dr is insane to pass on
But in theory, if you have 100 resil and another source of DR the effects of the chest mods would become very minimal, and so could be swapped for something else allowing for chest mods to be more diverse
Thirdly, this is future proof, since no matter hoe many new sources of DR are added, the system is built to reduce their effectiveness as you stack more and more

Myself and a friend of mine are going to be recording music together this upcoming summer (which is like, really really soon) and I have a couple of great ideas, but no idea which to choose.
There is a part of me that wants to record a progressive concept album, similar to something like Tool or Opeth, with few songs (like 5-6) but are longer in length and follow a really interesting story that I've been writing. The whole project would be like fifty minutes in length.
There is another part of me that wants to write a fun, thirty minute lo-fi grunge-like record inspired by Nirvana as well as various pop punk groups. There would be around 8-10 songs on this one.
Please let me know which one I should go with! I love both of these ideas and directions equally and I need help with which path I should choose. Thank you!

Hi all, I filed chapter 7 in MI about a month ago. I had my 341 meeting today. No creditors showed up and it seemingly went well. The whole thing took about 10 minutes and I was dismissed after that. I’m feeling optimistic but very anxious about what comes next. 60 days will be hard to wait, but I’ve been breathing so much easier this past month. Thank you to this community for humanizing the process and making me feel not so alone or ashamed. If I had never found this group I may have suffered much longer or not even filed at all and made things much worse for myself. For everyone who has been through it, what do you do to dull the worry after 341 but before discharge? Thank you in advance!

I am involved in bodybuilding and exercise regularly.
For the last few years I would experience bouts of being slightly lightheaded when comming up from a "leaned forward" position like deadlifts and even squats at times. I went to see my primary last year and he said it might be a type of vertigo but since it wasn't that big of an issue and happened so irregularly that it wasn't worth worrying about and just to rest when it happenes.
Fast forward 2 weeks ago, I was squating heavy and for high volume. When I got out from under the bar I felt slightly light headed and rested. I left squats after that set and sat on the leg extension machine and rested for few minutes; all of a sudden my vision started to fade, my ears rang and I felt like I was about to pass out. I laid on the floor and I didn't lose consciousness but after I got home, I had my first even panic attack (I have some prior medical anxiety) and im still recovering from it 2 weeks later.
The biggest issue I'm facing other then restructuring my thought when I feel a bit of anxiety kicking up is a intermittent and pervasive "tension" headaches, feeling mentally spacey, and getting drozy when these things happen.
I tried going back to the gym for the first time today, but 10 minutes in after jogging my head feels like I described it above and when leaning down I can feel the "blood pressure" shift in my head as I come back up.
My question is, does it seem like a result of recovering from the pretty bad anxiety attack a few weeks ago and im just over thinking it; or does it seem like something I should bring back up to my doctor.

Had HPPD for 18 months, ear ringing , hissing tinnitus, brain fog palinopsia.
Had an MRI done privately, thought I'd share the finding and like input and interpretation on the findings,
"There is a small CSF signal cleft shown left parahippocampal gyrus and show arising from the temporal horn, otherwise, normal intracranial appearances"
My hissing tinnitus changes, I always thought it was like hearing the flow of CSF change. My vision is persistent positive after images and feel spatially detached.

Here I want to dedicate a post solely to drawing attention to one such 'rhyme' — a 'rhyme' I've frequently pointed out in passing in service of this or that 'greater' point.
I want to talk about the fact that Quellon Greyjoy is very clearly written so as to seem "Hoare-ish": to be a Lord of the Iron Islands who recalls in various ways everything we're told about the Hoare kings of the Iron Islands.

The "Quellon Greyjoy" of A World of Ice & Fire

Consider first everything AWOIAF tells us about Quellon Greyjoy:

Near the end of Haereg's great work you will come to Lord Quellon Greyjoy, the wisest of the men to sit the Seastone Chair since Aegon's Conquest. A huge man, six and a half feet tall, he was said to be as strong as an ox and as quick as a cat. In his youth he earned renown as a warrior, fighting corsairs and slavers in the Summer Sea. A leal servant of the Iron Throne, he led a hundred longships around the bottom of Westeros during the War of the Ninepenny Kings and played a crucial role in the fighting around the Stepstones.
As lord, however, Quellon preferred to walk the road of peace. He forbade reaving, save by his leave. He brought maesters to the Iron Islands by the score, to serve as healers to the sick and tutors to the young; with them came their ravens, whose black wings would tie the isles to the green lands tighter than ever before.
It was Lord Quellon who freed the remaining thralls and outlawed the practice of thralldom on the Iron Islands (in this he was not wholly successful). And whilst he took no salt wives himself, he allowed other men to do so but taxed them heavily for the privilege. Quellon Greyjoy sired nine sons on three wives. His first and second wives were rock wives, joined to him with the old rites by a priest of the Drowned God, but his last bride was a woman of the green lands, a Piper of Pinkmaiden Castle, wed to him in her father's hall by a septon.
In this, as in much else, Lord Quellon turned away from the ancient and insular traditions of the ironborn, in hopes of forging stronger bonds between his own domains and the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. So strong a lord was Quellon Greyjoy that few dared speak openly against him, for he was known to be strong-willed and stubborn and fearsome in his wroth.

In short, Quellon Grejoy pretty much acted exactly like the historic kings of House Hoare.
How so?

Wives & The Faith

Where the Hoares "took maidens of [Andal] ilk to wife" and were proclaimed "ungodly" by the priests of the Drowned God for (among other things) tolerating and even welcoming the Faith of the Seven to the Iron Islands, Quellon not only wed a non-ironborn maiden of House Piper of the (formerly Hoare-ruled) Riverlands, but was wed to her by a septon of the Faith "in her father's hall" on mainland Westeros (rather than on the "holy islands" of the ironborn). These actions were surely seen as "ungodly" by the priests of the Drowned God.

Anti-Reaving & Pro Cultural and/or Commercial Exchange

Quellon "forbade reaving, save by his leave". Sounds like the Hoares:

The Hoare kings… discouraged the practice of reaving. And as reaving declined, trade grew. (TWOIAF)

(No, we're not explicitly told that "trade grew" under Quellon, but it is pretty much impossible to conclude that it didn't, given that Quellon was dedicated to "forging stronger bonds between his own domains and the rest of the Seven Kingdoms" and to "[tying] the isles to the green lands tighter than ever before".)

Bringing In Outsiders

When Quellon "brought maesters to the Iron Islands by the score", it was an echo of the Hoares opening the Islands to the septons of the Faith:

[I]t was under the Hoares that the Faith of the Andals came to the Iron Islands for the first time. (TWOIAF)

Thralls & Salt Wives

Quellon "freed the remaining thralls and outlawed the practice of thralldom", while taking no salt wives and "heavily" taxing those who did.
Both the substance and verbiage of these policies 'rhyme' with those of Handsome Harmund Hoare, who banned reaving, "outlawed" salt wives and was about to "end the practice of thralldom" when he was overthrown by a priest-led rebellion. (TWOIAF)

Fearsome In Their Wroth

Quellon probably wasn't loved by all for his liberal policies, given the widespread influence of the Priests of Drowned God and the deep-seated ironborn predilcection for reaving and war, but…

…few dared speak openly against him, for he was known to be strong-willed and stubborn and fearsome in his wroth. (TWOIAF)

This, too, compares neatly with the Hoares:

Few of their subjects ever loved them, but many had good reason to fear their wroth. (TWOIAF)

Quellon & Qhorwyn Hoare

We're told that Quellon was "the wisest of the men to sit the Seastone Chair since Aegon's Conquest". Since the Hoares, then.
We're told that wise Lord Quellon raised taxes, "forg[ed] stronger bonds between his own domains and the rest of the Seven Kingdoms" (surely entailing trade), and "spent most of his long reign avoiding war".
In these things he clearly 'rhymes' with "shrewd" (see: "wise"), "avaricious" (see: raising taxes) Qhorwyn Hoare, who "spent his entire reign… avoiding war":

A shrewd and avaricious king, Qhorwyn had spent his entire reign accumulating wealth and avoiding war. "War is bad for trade," he said….

Where King Qhorywn said "War is bad", but spent heavily preparing for it just in case, Quellon fought in "the War of the Ninepenny Kings" (get it? a war named after money…) but "as lord… preferred to walk the road of peace."

Forging Stronger — Hoare-ish — Bonds

Consider again the line about Quellon "forging stronger bonds between his own domains and the rest of the Seven Kingdoms":

Lord Quellon turned away from the ancient and insular traditions of the ironborn, in hopes of forging stronger bonds between his own domains and the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. (TWOIAF)

That line 'just so happens' to neatly embody the sigil of House Hoare, which depicts literal forged bonds — silver chains, like the "forged" chain of a maester, bound to serve — connecting symbols of the Arbor, Oldtown, Bear Island and the Iron Islands: that is, visually embodying the connection of and ties between the Iron Islands "and the rest of the Seven Kingdoms", so to speak.

'Rhyming' Youths

The one line describing Quellon's youth—

In his youth he earned renown as a warrior, fighting corsairs and slavers in the Summer Sea. (TWOIAF)

—'rhymes' with Qhorwyn Hoare's son Harwyn Hardhand's youth from TWOIAF:

A belligerent boy by all accounts, and third in the succession, Harwyn Hoare was sent to sea at an early age. He sailed with a succession of reavers in the Stepstones, visited Volantis, Tyrosh, and Braavos, became a man in the pleasure gardens of Lys, spent two years in the Basilisk Isles as a captive of a pirate king, sold his sword to a free company in the Disputed Lands, and fought in several battles as a Second Son.

Balon the eldest and boldest, a fierce and fearless boy who lived only to restore the ironborn to their ancient glory. At ten he scaled the Flint Cliffs to the Blind Lord's haunted tower. At thirteen he could run a longship's oars and dance the finger dance as well as any man in the isles. At fifteen he had sailed with Dagmer Cleftjaw to the Stepstones and spent a summer reaving. He slew his first man there and took his first two salt wives. At seventeen Balon captained his own ship. (AFFC The Prophet)

At the same time the details of Qhorwyn's third son Harwyn's time spent abroad in Essos feel like they're also a recursive, 'rhyming' iteration of Quellon's third surviving son Euron's exile to Essos. (Where Harwyn was captive of a pirate king before returning home to overthrow his older brothers, Euron, a king who looks like a stereotypical "pirate" and who likely was "The Corsair King", seemingly overthrows his older brother and takes his brother Aeron captive.)
Qhorwyn's eldest son died of greyscale:

When Harwyn returned to the Iron Islands, he found his father Qhorwyn dying, and his eldest brother two years dead from greyscale.

Quellon's eldest son was likewise dying of greyscale—

Nine sons had been born from the loins of Quellon Greyjoy, the Lord of the Iron Islands. Harlon, Quenton, and Donel had been born of Lord Quellon's first wife, a woman of the Stonetrees. … Harlon [the eldest] he recalled but dimly, sitting grey-faced and still in a windowless tower room and speaking in whispers that grew fainter every day as the greyscale turned his tongue and lips to stone. —when Quellon's third surviving son Euron murdered him, recalling the fratricidal treachery that brought Qhorwyn's third son Hardhand to power:

A second brother still stood between Harwyn and the crown, and his sudden death even as the king was breathing his last remains a matter of dispute to this day. Those present at Prince Harlan's passing all declared his death accidental, the result of a fall from his horse, but of course it would have been worth their lives to suggest otherwise. Beyond the Iron Islands, it was widely assumed that Prince Harwyn was behind his brother's demise. Some claimed he had done the deed himself, others that Prince Harlan had been slain by a Faceless Man of Braavos. (TWOIAF)

That story of Harwyn's fratricidal treachery toward his older brother is also clearly contrived to 'rhyme' with what we've been told about Euron killing Balon to take power, right down to the older brother dying in a fall and the rumors that a Faceless Man was involved.
The detail about the brother dying "even as the king was breathing his last" reworks Euron murdering Harlon by "pinch[ing] his nose shut" so he could not breath. (TWOW The Forgotten)
The way Qhorwyn Hoare died "even as" his son died a "sudden death" 'rhymes' with Quellon's wife dying even "as the midwife drew a stillborn daughter from her womb". (The phrase "sudden death" evokes "sudden infant death syndrome".)

Summing Up TWOIAF & Its Hoare-esque Quellon

So clearly Quellon Greyjoy as described in TWOIAF is is blatantly Hoare-esque, not just because his policies recall (both in their substance and in how they are written about) those of the Hoare Kings but even inasmuch as certain actions of his children evoke the actions of Qhorwyn Hoare's Hoare sons. And clearly we're supposed to notice this.

The "Quellon Greyjoy" of ASOIAF Proper Is Also Hoare-esque. Or Rather: A Bit Whore-esque

If TWOIAF makes it abundantly clear that Quellon was Hoare-esque, AFFC makes it abundantly clear that Quellon was nothing if not a prolific sperm cannon, siring nine sons on three different wives:

Nine sons had been born from the loins of Quellon Greyjoy, the Lord of the Iron Islands. (AFFC The Prophet)
Nine sons had been born from the loins of Quellon Greyjoy, but only four had lived to manhood. (AFFC The Prophet)
Nine sons had been born from the loins of Quellon Greyjoy, and Victarion was the strongest of them, a bull of a man, fearless and dutiful. (AFFC The Prophet)
Nine sons were born from the loins of Quellon Greyjoy, and I was the least of them, as weak and frightened as a girl. (AFFC The Prophet)
"Nine sons were born from the loins of Quellon Greyjoy. One was mightier than all the rest, and knew no fear." (AFFC The Drowned Man)

It would seem that Quellon Greyjoy liked to have sex rather a lot . . . which might make him seem (to someone not perversely committed to language-policing in the name of said sex-positivity [or whatever]) like something of a whore (or 'man-whore' or whatever).
And thus it turns out that what we're told about Quellon in ASOIAF proper in its own way paints Quellon as every bit the figurative Hoare/whore that AWOIAF does.

Why Paint Quellon As A 'Hoare'/'Whore'?

The question, of course, is "to what end?"
Is it just a little joke? 'Ha ha, Quellon is Hoare-ish and whore-ish', and that's all there is to it?
One thing I will note apropos of that question: ASOIAF loves to use the term "whoreson". Once we're aware of the existence of House Hoare, though, the term makes us think of Hoare sons.
Could Quellon be a Hoare son, of sorts?
While we can presume Quellon's father was a Greyjoy, we have no idea who his mother was. Regardless of her family name, might she have descended from House Hoare, making Quellon a Hoare-ish Hoare son? Was she a Volmark? The Volmarks descend from Qhorwyn Hoare's daughteHardhand Hoare's sister—

Qhorin Volmark, a minor lord on Harlaw, was the first man to claim the kingship [after Aegon's conquest]. His grandmother had been a younger sister of Harwyn Hardhand. On the basis of that tie, Volmark declared himself the rightful heir of "the black line." (TWOIAF)

—and some say they are the "true heir[s] of the black line" of House Hoare:

"Tarle the Thrice-Drowned was heard to say that Maron Volmark is the true heir of the black line." (AFFC The Iron Captain)
Volmark is a callow boy, but he has Black Harren's blood in him through his mother. (AFFC The Reaver)

(It's unclear whether Victarion is thinking that Volmark's mother is a Hoare, or whether he is confusing and conflating the Volmark's older maternal Hoare lineage with the blood of Volmark's mother.)
Thus setting sex aside, the Volmarks may well be as much "Hoares" as they are "Volmarks".
So perhaps Quellon being Hoare-esque and a bit of a 'man-whore' might have something to do with his having a Volmark mother. Maybe that's what calling Maron Volmark "the true heir of the black line" is about: suggesting it's the Volmarks, not hte Greyjoys, who are truly 'Hoare-ish', notwithstanding that Quellon was a maternal Volmark and hence Hoare-ish.
Or maybe it's (also?) about something else . . .

That story of Harwyn's fratricidal treachery toward his older brother is also clearly contrived to 'rhyme' with what we've been told about Euron killing Balon to take power, right down to the older brother dying in a fall and the rumors that a Faceless Man was involved.
The detail about the brother dying "even as the king was breathing his last" reworks Euron murdering Harlon by "pinch[ing] his nose shut" so he could not breath. (TWOW The Forgotten)
The way Qhorwyn Hoare died "even as" his son died a "sudden death" 'rhymes' with Quellon's wife dying even "as the midwife drew a stillborn daughter from her womb". (The phrase "sudden death" evokes "sudden infant death syndrome".)

Summing Up TWOIAF & Its Hoare-esque Quellon

So clearly Quellon Greyjoy as described in TWOIAF is is blatantly Hoare-esque, not just because his policies recall (both in their substance and in how they are written about) those of the Hoare Kings but even inasmuch as certain actions of his children evoke the actions of Qhorwyn Hoare's Hoare sons. And clearly we're supposed to notice this.

The "Quellon Greyjoy" of ASOIAF Proper Is Also Hoare-esque. Or Rather: A Bit Whore-esque

If TWOIAF makes it abundantly clear that Quellon was Hoare-esque, AFFC makes it abundantly clear that Quellon was nothing if not a prolific sperm cannon, siring nine sons on three different wives:

It would seem that Quellon Greyjoy liked to have sex rather a lot . . . which might make him seem (to someone not perversely committed to language-policing in the name of said sex-positivity [or whatever]) like something of a whore (or 'man-whore' or whatever).
And thus it turns out that what we're told about Quellon in ASOIAF proper in its own way paints Quellon as every bit the figurative Hoare/whore that AWOIAF does.

Why Paint Quellon As A 'Hoare'/'Whore'?

The question, of course, is "to what end?"
Is it just a little joke? 'Ha ha, Quellon is Hoare-ish and whore-ish', and that's all there is to it?
One thing I will note apropos of that question: ASOIAF loves to use the term "whoreson". Once we're aware of the existence of House Hoare, though, the term makes us think of Hoare sons.
Could Quellon be a Hoare son, of sorts?
While we can presume Quellon's father was a Greyjoy, we have no idea who his mother was. Regardless of her family name, might she have descended from House Hoare, making Quellon a Hoare-ish Hoare son? Was she a Volmark? The Volmarks descend from Qhorwyn Hoare's daughteHardhand Hoare's sister—

Qhorin Volmark, a minor lord on Harlaw, was the first man to claim the kingship [after Aegon's conquest]. His grandmother had been a younger sister of Harwyn Hardhand. On the basis of that tie, Volmark declared himself the rightful heir of "the black line." (TWOIAF)

—and some say they are the "true heir[s] of the black line" of House Hoare:

"Tarle the Thrice-Drowned was heard to say that Maron Volmark is the true heir of the black line." (AFFC The Iron Captain)
Volmark is a callow boy, but he has Black Harren's blood in him through his mother. (AFFC The Reaver)

(It's unclear whether Victarion is thinking that Volmark's mother is a Hoare, or whether he is confusing and conflating the Volmark's older maternal Hoare lineage with the blood of Volmark's mother.)
Thus setting sex aside, the Volmarks may well be as much "Hoares" as they are "Volmarks".
So perhaps Quellon being Hoare-esque and a bit of a 'man-whore' might have something to do with his having a Volmark mother. Maybe that's what calling Maron Volmark "the true heir of the black line" is about: suggesting it's the Volmarks, not hte Greyjoys, who are truly 'Hoare-ish', notwithstanding that Quellon was a maternal Volmark and hence Hoare-ish.
Or maybe it's (also?) about something else . . .

I don’t know how long the fighting lasted. The sound of gunfire and flamethrower tanks detonating sank into white noise as we held out our position. Colton dealt with most of the initial wave before they even reached the building, but then came the second and the third waves. Halfway into the second onslaught Colton ran out of ammo for his rifle. Switching to his sidearm he assisted us with the defense of the sole entrance to the office. The desk proved sturdy enough to provide cover against enemy fire. Here Tassev’s machine gun did most of the heavy lifting, but we had to take over more than once when the gun's barrel overheated and needed to be switched out. If we had faced a similar amount of resistance trying to get in here we never would have taken this room in the first place.
During this time the Kolshian regained his senses, though he was content to stew silently while the fighting was still ongoing. I noticed him trying to wiggle from his binds more than once, but he got nowhere. We might have gone a little overboard restraining him, overcompensating for his unorthodox biology, but it was better to go overkill than to be surprised at the worst possible time.
I didn’t know what we would do if we ran out of ammo. Grab guns from those we already killed? Take the Governor hostage and attempt to make a break for it? No, we couldn’t carry Amja out with us if we attempted that. As I counted down my few remaining mags I came to the grim realization we couldn’t make it through another assault. With two Arxur on our side we had the advantage in a melee, but as the old saying goes, nobody wins in a knife fight. Steadying my aim through the doorway we waited for the fourth wave. In this lull I had a moment to process the horrid scene in front of me. Bodies were piled along the walkway all the way to the end of the hallway. At some points piled up where they had been used as makeshift cover. Most of our assailants had been Krakotl, whose purple blood dripped sickeningly down from the walkways onto the ballroom floor below. Of the few Yotul that had attacked, most were exterminators, though their charred bodies were hardly recognizable as such. At one point Tassev had managed to nail an exterminator’s tank and engulfed the entire hallway in a fireball. The building itself, despite the seemingly wood detailing, appeared to be fireproof thankfully. If it wasn’t we would be taking a tumble out the second story window by now to avoid being burned alive. Fur and feathers were noticeably more flammable than the manor itself however, and filled the air with a putrid stench. After a long enough pause in the fighting, Usli droned out the area and saw no remaining hostiles. If there were any survivors among the enemy, they retreated. With a sigh of relief I took count of our remaining ammo, and it didn’t look good. I ordered Tassev to collect guns from the fallen. Their ammo would be incompatible with our weapons, so if we ran out we would have to switch to them entirely. Only the manor's guards would have anything of value, lugging around the few intact flamethrowers was the last thing we wanted to do.
As Tassev vaulted the desk I turned to the rest of my squad, “The area’s secure, for now. I want this place turned upside down. Document anything and everything of interest. Colton, there’s got to be a radio or something somewhere in here, if we can get an update on how the battle’s going that would be nice. Usli, search around for any electronics and download anything they’ve got.” I got started searching through the desk which had provided us cover. Most of the documents within that weren't shredded by bullets were of no interest: economic spreadsheets, architectural plans for additions to the manner (all dated after 2139), some personal letters which I opted to document, etc.
There was some commotion as Usli seized the Governor’s holopad. “Quit moving!,” Usli shouted as he kicked the Kolshian, causing him to double over. In most instances I would have told him to cool it, but after what we had just been through I could think of worse ways to release some stress than beating on the SOB.
“Anything Colton,” I asked.
“Nothing. Well, there looks to be an old TV back here but I doubt we’ll get any channels. You know we could try contacting the shuttle again, it’s not like our position hasn’t already been compromised. If they’re still kicking they’ll be in contact with the fleet.”
Pulling out my radio I realized it had a bullet lodged in it. After a second of vertigo I dropped the ruined electronic and turned to Colton again, “Can I borrow yours? Mine is uh, shot. Literally.”
“Seriously? Damn, sure no problem.”
Tuning his radio to the right frequencies I started, “This is Taskforce Revenant calling out, does anyone copy?” Static was the only answer. “This is Captain Price of Taskforce Revenant, does anyone copy?”
“This is UTCS Luanda, over. We hear you loud and clear Taskforce Revenant.”
Wait, Luanda? That’s a battlecruiser, and for it to be contacting us directly… they’d have to be in atmosphere. “What’s the situation up there, we’ve been in the dark planetside.”
“You haven’t heard? Feds are running with their tails between their legs, Captain. We took some minor dings but nothing that won’t buff out. Terran forces have complete orbital control.”
I couldn’t keep the relief out of my voice as I answered back, “That’s great to hear. I need you to relay a message to Command. We are requesting immediate evac from the Yotul capital. Our current position is in a structure called the Chancellor’s Manor. We are in possession of a potential HVT, the military governor of Yotul Prime, and intel on Federation operations on the planet. We’ve been pinned down for, I don’t know, an hour maybe? The site is secure now, but we are low on ammunition and have a civilian in need of medical attention.”
“Relaying now. In the meantime stay put and we’ll have reinforcements sent via drop pod within 15 minutes.”
The whole atmosphere in the room lightened up. It was over. We won in space and soon enough the last holdouts on the planet would either surrender or be destroyed. I turned to Amja, who was still conscious, but obviously in pain, “You hear that? We won! The Yotul are free.” She cracked a weak smile.
“You haven’t won,” The Kolshian piped up. “You’ve freed no one, just enslaved them in ways they can’t see.”
“Well would you look at that,” Colton said. “He speaks! And here I was thinking the squid was a mute.”
“Mock me all you want, predator. It doesn’t change the fact that you are a blight on the galaxy. Nor does it change the outcome of this war.”
“I dunno, that’s a lot of tough talk for someone bound up and surrounded by ‘vicious’ predators.”
“Vile creature. We would have done well to exterminate you all before your corruption spread.”
“Alright I’ll bite,” Colton continued, “no pun intended. What do you have against predators? Don’t lie and say it’s because you’re afraid of me. Sure that applies to most Feds we’ve met, but you’re different. It’s in the way you talk. Your feeling towards us isn’t fear, it’s disgust.”
“How astute for a primate. Like I said, predators are a blight on the galaxy, a malignant tumor that consumes all that it touches. My kind creates order. Your kind only knows destruction. Nay, you are destruction, chaos manifest. It’s in your DNA, crucial to your very being that you must destroy to live. You humans hide behind your facade of ‘civilization’ better than the Arxur, but you can’t hide what you truly are underneath it all.” His frog-like eyes narrowed as his pupils darted between Usli and Amja. “Likewise, of all the predators in this room the stench radiates most readily from the two Yotul among you.”
“What are you on about?”
“Arguably worse than you are those who hide among us, harboring the instincts of a predator unbeknownst to others. They are diseased, no doubt, to stand your kind’s presence let alone work with you.” He looked directly at Usli, “One can call you violent, insolent, primitive, and it rolls off like water. But when I call you what you are, diseased, watch how you recoil. Because deep down you know your ruse has been found out!”
Usli did recoil slightly, but at the insult of being called primitive, not whatever nonsense the Kolshian was spewing. “Enough of that,” I interrupted. “If I have to listen to one more second of that squid’s tirade I am going to jump out a window. There’s nothing to gain from egging him on.” I looked to the Kolshian, “And you. You will only speak when spoken to or I’ll tape your mouth shut personally.”
Colton huffed and turned to dig through a filing cabinet. Jokingly he asked no one in particular, “You think they’ll give us front row seats if he gets the Kalsim treatment?”
Tassev returned with his arms full of weapons. I informed him of the situation and he opted to stand guard in front of the door rather than sort through files with the rest of us. It was probably for the best, I don’t think anyone else besides maybe Jath could withstand the stench that permeated the hall. Finding I had sorted through everything in the desk, I moved over to help Colton search the filing cabinets. After a minute or so of doing that Usli finally broke into the Kolshian’s holopad.
“Well well well, looks like someone left a lot of sensitive files on their personal device, tsk tsk tsk. You’d think you 'advanced' species have better OPSEC,” Usli said mockingly. “Daniel, you want to check this out? I’ll see if I can get that computer up and running again.
“Sure, let’s see,” I said, taking the holopad and flipping through random files. I thought out loud as I opened some, “We’ve got manifests offworld, all going to the same system interestingly enough. Renovation plans including a pleasure garden complete with a 800,000 gallon swimming pool. Always a good look when the people you govern are surviving off scraps. Exterminator incident reports, risk assessment meetings, wait…” I opened the folder of exterminator incident reports. The files were separated by what I assumed was the Federation equivalent of months and years. The dates were auto translated, but it made the subdivisions look somewhat arbitrary as a result. It went back to 2137 and there were thousands upon thousands of reports. “Usli, just how common were predators when you lived here?”
“Not at all. When there was a predator sighting it would make headlines for a week.”
I looked back to the holopad. Clicking on individual incidents revealed more in depth details. The exterminators on the call, what precinct they were with, the location of the incident, resolution, and more. Under resolution every single one was marked DEPURATION. I scrolled down, and it just kept going. Eventually I found a couple instances of other resolutions: TERMINATION, INCONCLUSIVE, and RELOCATION. I opened up other pages, other times, and it was all the same. The number of incidents were excessive. Trying to scroll to the bottom of one subsection I gave up after a solid minute flying past thousands of reports with no end in sight.
“Under Exterminator incident reports there’s thousands of incidents. Almost every single one has its resolution marked as depuration.”
“What?,” Usli said, looking up from the computer. “Let me see.”
“It just keeps going, there must be tens, hundreds of thousands of individual reports.”
“That can’t be right. The Federation wiped out almost every predator on the planet during the uplift.”
I looked back to Amja, she was stone-faced staring at the Kolshian. “Those aren’t wild predators, those are people. The people you took.”
The Kolshian remained silent.
I allowed Usli to take the holopad and focused my attention on the cephalopoid. “What’s the meaning of this?”
The Kolshian took on an uncanny expression, I couldn’t tell if it was his species’ equivalent of a smile or glare. “If you must know, this world was infested when we took custodianship over the Yotul. It is little wonder that they planned to join you. Our scientists during first contact must have had faulty equipment. Either that or our screenings have become far more effective in the last few decades, because cases of predator disease were 256% more prevalent in the Yotul population than the galaxy at large. Perhaps a vestigial remnant of predator ancestors, but I digress. Cases of the disease were even more prevalent among the ruling class as well, being 37% more common in that demographic even when using a Yotul baseline. We simply did what was necessary.”
“And what was ‘necessary’?”
“Hmm, less perceptive than your pack member? Recalling our previous conversation, what do you do to a cancer?”
I knew damn well what he was alluding to, but I needed a straight answer right from his mouth, “I don’t know. Elaborate.”
He groaned, as if bored by the interrogation, “I knew your medicine was primitive, but I had no idea-”
“Answer. The. Question.”
“Hmph. A cancer cannot be allowed to take hold and spread. You are presented with two options, curtail its means of replication or cut it out.”
A stunned silence purveyed the room. I turned and snatched the holopad from Usli’s hands, he made no reaction to this action. I could feel anger slipping into my voice as I said, “All of these ‘incidents’. All of these people. What did you do to them?! And don’t answer me with any analogies or euphemisms! Tell me the truth!”
“We removed them from the general population and salvaged the ones we could. The ones that couldn’t be saved… well originally it would have been a matter of continuing their segregation from the populous and implementing strict population controls, but with the food shortages your kind have caused these past few years I had to make a decision. Why should healthy citizens go hungry because of individuals who are a net deficit to society.”
I stood in silence taking in his answer. The implication was obvious, but the bastard refused to outright say it. Hatred boiled to the surface as I replied, “You starved them.”
“Sending food to this backwater was already a low priority when core worlds needed to be fed. So why not dispose of the refuse of this world and save some for those that remained? Sure a more expedited method could have been chosen, but if the goal is to conserve resources then why spend more to achieve the same result faster?”
“You genocidal motherfucker. How many?” I flipped through the lists faster and faster before throwing the holopad to the floor. “How many millions of innocents did you murder for your perfect world?”
Though the Kolshian’s expression was hard to judge, it took on a look akin to annoyance as he sat silently in front of me.
“Answer me you piece of shit!” I yelled, “You killed all of these people, and for what? Because they had this ‘predator disease’? Murdered them just because they were different, just because they didn’t fit your vision? How many did you starve under the pretense of this pseudoscientific bullshit?!”
The Kolshian’s calm demeanor cracked as he grew incensed at my direct attack on his ideology. He barked, “Not enough!”
“Y-you monster…”, Usli stuttered, backing up out of my peripheral vision in shock.
The Kolshian’s eyes narrowed on Usli again. “Says the one in league with predators! The gall of you to call me the monster.” He looked back to me, “And none of your poisoned, ignorant, words would make me hesitate for an instant to continue my work! You call me a murderer as if your kind is any better. I know what you are even if you refuse to acknowledge it. At least I served to promote the greater good. What ends did the genocides in your own history serve? Exactly, your silence speaks volumes. What is the price of millions when my work serves to save billions? I will not grovel to you beasts or beg for your faux mercy. My only regret is that now all of those deaths will be for nothing. We wasted so much time and so many resources trying to uplift these primitives. And what did we get in return? Nothing! On second thought, I lied. I also regret that I didn’t kill more of these disease ridden, backstabbing, primi-”
A single gunshot rang out, splattering blue blood across my face as the Kolshian slumped over, trailing blood on the wall behind him. I turned around to see Usli standing there, arm shaking, with a pistol in hand. Hearing the gunshot, Tassev vaulted into the room, gun at the ready, before stopping dead in his tracks upon observing the scene in front of him. Silence overtook us as we stood there in shock. Slowly I stepped back and dropped my rifle to the floor. Holding out my arms I approached Usli. The conflicted expression on his face contradicted the action he had just committed. Stepping forward I calmly spoke, “Take it easy, Usli. Put down the gun.” His grip became shakier, but he was still pointing it straight ahead. He breathed out and blinked rapidly. His composure was barely maintained as his breathing accelerated. “It’s okay bud, just put it down. I’m right here, look at me.”
His pupils darted to me and back forward multiple times before he drew his arm back and threw the pistol at the dead Kolshian. Wasting no time he lunged forward, unleashing a barrage of stomps and kicks on the body. He let out a shrill cry before screaming, “HOW’S THAT FOR PRIMITIVE YOU FEDERATION FUCK!”
Tassev immediately moved in to restrain our friend, but even with the massive Arxur grabbing both of his arms his fury was barely contained, his only focus being the dead Kolshian in front of him. “FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU! I’LL KILL YOU ALL! EVERY LAST GODDAMN ONE OF YOU! I’LL FUCKING KILL YOU ALL! LET GO OF ME!”
Jath moved in and helped Tassev restrain his arms. I never thought in all my years I would see two imposing Arxur struggle to keep hold of a single Yotul, but Usli fought like a man possessed. I snapped out of shock and rushed in front of him, grabbing a leg as he kicked blindly. Finally we were able to take him off balance and pin him to the floor. He was still screaming profanities at the top of his lungs as I tried to get through to him. “Pull yourself together man! It’s us! Chill, chill!” He thrashed like a wild animal caught in a trap, looking in every direction as he expended his finite supply of energy trying to escape our grasp.
“LET ME AT HIM! LET ME GO! I’LL KILL EVERY ONE OF THOSE TENTACLED FREAKS, I SWEAR IT!”
Jath was next to try and calm him, “Relax, look at me. Look at me! It’s me. It’s okay, we’re here. Stop fighting. STOP!”
“I’LL, I- I…” His thrashes waned in intensity and we were finally able to let go. With the last of his energy he curled into a ball on the floor and began sobbing. I stumbled to my feet and tried to catch my breath. Usli’s mumbled words in between sobs were unintelligible, with the only one I could parse being “father”. Wiping the blood from my face, I hunched over the Kolshian. He was dead, no doubt. The bullet went right between his eyes.
I paced in front of the body, how the fuck were we going to explain this to Command? Usli just executed a prisoner, a top ranking official that they would very much have liked to have alive. The bastard had it coming a thousand times over, but fuck not like this! What would they do? Strip him of his rank? Court-martial and imprison him? I walked over to Colton, who was standing off to the side close to Amja. I turned him away from the rest and whispered, “This is bad, this is seriously fucked.”
“What do we do?”
“I don’t know. Last thing Command heard was that we had an HVT ready for extraction and now he’s dead on the floor. You can’t just hide that!”
“But if we tell the truth?”
“They’ll court-martial him. At best they’ll find the circumstances such that he’ll be honorably discharged.”
“And worst case?”
“You already know.”
Colton put a fist to his mouth, trying to think, and muttered a curse under his breath. We stood there for a moment contemplating our options when Amja spoke up, “I did it.”
In unison we turned and responded, “What?”
“I shot the Governor. I killed him.”
Usli, who by now had buried his face in Jath’s shoulder, stepped back on shaky legs and looked at her. His voice came out as a hoarse whisper, “N-no. You shouldn’t take the blame. I did it. It’s my fault. My responsibility.”
“No it ain’t. You did nothing wrong, he deserved every bit of it. Besides, I had the motive.” With some difficulty she unholstered her firearm with her still functioning offhand, “And the means. It was out of your control, you were interrogating him and I shot him, as I intended to from the beginning. I deceived you so I could get revenge, like Ugo warned me not to do.” She looked at me and gestured with her gun, “Take it.”
I hesitated.
“Take it, you wouldn’t let me keep it after what I did.”
I grabbed the gun and inspected it for a moment. I sighed and, crouching down to her level, fired several times, hitting the Kolshian’s body in various locations while purposefully missing a shot or two. Standing up I explained to her, “I imagine you’re not a great shot with your offhand.” That would hold up in the AAR. It would have to. With the last piece of evidence planted it was time to complete the ruse.
“UTCS Luanda, this is Taskforce Revenant do you copy?”
“Copy What’s the situation?”
I took in a deep breath, and let it out before continuing, “High value target is KIA.”
“What happened?”
My gaze wandered to Usli, who was back in Jath’s embrace. “The civilian in our company killed him. I was interrogating the subject when she opened fire. She’s been stripped of any weapons and is cooperative.”
“Roger, ETA on reinforcements is 5 minutes.”
Putting the radio down I fell backwards into a chair and let out a deep breath, slumping forward to cradle my head in my hands. All there was to do now was wait for evac.

My PC one day had a BSOD (watchdog error) and has since then been unusable. I wasn't doing anything particularly interesting when it happened or before it happened. My PC is not new, though. It's a PC I've been steadily upgrading for a long period of time, so I run into errors sometimes that I am usually able to fix on my own, but everything I try with this one has stumped me so far.
The problem is inconsistent, but always ends up the same: an unbreakable freeze. 99% of the time it happens directly during the boot process. Sometimes I can get past the boot, but it will freeze at the sign-in screen. Sometimes I get past sign in and can even use my PC for about 10-15 minutes, although i haven't been able to get past startup whatsoever today. Sometimes, however, it will enter the "preparing automatic repair" screen and then loop infinitely there, until eventually it freezes again.
The first things I tried were managing my boot options. You know, disabling quick boot, all that sort of stuff. Didn't work.
Yesterday, my PC had trouble recognizing my boot drive, my Crucial SSD, and it would typically not show up in my BIOS, so I assumed that this was the issue. So I tried a handful of things with that, including swapping around my SATA cables, checking voltage on the ssd power connectors, and they were all good. I got stumped and assumed that if I'd just buy a new drive it'd probably fix it. I have not done that yet, and I am grateful, because today, I haven't had a single instance where that SSD is not recognized.
I tried a handful of things today. The first was to see if I could get my pc to auto-repair. So I installed a windows media key on my USB, booted from that. My PC freezes while trying to boot from the USB as well, which is very very weird to me. I figured my best bet would be to get a lucky boot where it wouldn't freeze for long enough to do an auto-repair. I got lucky, and then entered advanced settings, and selected to repair my drive in troubleshooting. It said my drive could not be repaired. So I went into command prompt and tried to run chkdsk in an attempt to repair it. It ran, but then froze after fixing a file in Wallpaper Engine, which I assume was just coincidence.
I then began to check other components on my PC. I checked my GPU first. Perhaps my GPU is stalling and not outputting frames? So I uninstalled my GPU and tried to boot my PC with my display cables plugged into the motherboard. No dice, no signal whatsoever. I'm not sure if that is a symptom of my problem or if AMD processors just don't support onboard graphics. I plugged my GPU back in and all the fans on my computer started running at full speed for a solid minute or two and then I got back into the boot screen where my pc promptly froze again. The final things that I did were just hail-maries. I tried seating my ram in positions 1 and 3 instead of 2 and 4. Resetting my BIOS back to default settings. Clearing CMOS for whatever reason. I have been reviewing and updating our budget recently and it has me feeling a little nervous. My job matches 4% and I put 4% in, my wife's job does not match anything and we do not put into it. The things that make me most nervous are that we purchased this house towards the end of 2020 and got the golden interest rate. We have been trying for a baby, which is why my wife's Dr visits/medication is so high (we have not been fortunate in this area). I have been applying to other jobs, but they either have lots of travel or moving locations attached with them. Since we are trying for a baby, I don't need to be travelling too much so that knocks most travel jobs out. And although we are not completely against moving, our rent would potentially go up and my mother in law is close to retirement (she could retire now) and said she would retire if she had something to do, giving us cheap childcare.
I recently applied to a job that triples my drive distance daily (40 miles to 120 miles) that pays more and it is hourly with overtime potential. Base pay is $85,000 a year and I make about $75,000 currently so I thinking that 10k a year may not be worth the extra gas, car wear, and extra commuting time, but the position may be 4x10s (new position, still working out the schedule) and the potential overtime makes it more attractive.
Just wanting some advice on any of this. I posted our budget down below. Our vacation allocation is rather high I think, but with our dogs not doing well on long car rides or no pets allowed vacations. we have had to board them before. You will also notice that there is about $1400 not accounted for in the budget, this is due to we were saving up for contractor projects.

So, nachdem ich letztes Mal Anfang März bei knapp 57,2 pg/ml für mein E war für 2-0-2 Hübe Estreva und auch davor mein E meist um den Bereich zwischen 40-70 schwankte, hab ich dann seit der Messung 3-0-3 Hübe genommen.
Hab jetzt meine Werte beim Hausarzt ermitteln lassen, davor am Abend 3 Stunden nach dem auftragen geduscht und in der Früh nochmal zusätzlich sauber gemacht und wie vor jeder Messung 12 Stunden Abstand zum letzten Auftragen gehabt. Die Stelle wo Blut abgenommen wird bei mir kommt normalerweise kein Gel hin, aber einfach um auf Nummer sicher zu gehen trotzdem nochmal gewaschen. Das habe ich auch früher so gemacht und eigentlich immer darauf eben aufgepasst.
Meine Werte haben mich jetzt etwas verblüfft und verwirrt, vor allem weil E und T stark angestiegen sind sowie Prolaktin im Vergleich zu davor.
Durfte gerade auch noch rausfinden dass bei der vorherigen Endo die Einheiten anders waren, stand dann schön 16 ng/dl für T was einen dann verwirrt wenn man nicht dauernd auf alles aufpasst. Die Einheiten für Prolaktin, FSH und LH hab ich aber noch nie gesehen, find auch gerade keine Info wie man die umrechnet.

Ich nehm an, Prolaktin ist schlecht weil ziemlich hoch, E ist hoch aber deutlich besser als sonst. T ist recht hoch weil 1/4 Androcur alle zwei Tage damals gesagt wurde, ich nehm aber mittlerweile eine Viertel Tablette täglich weil ich mit dem Haarwuchs nicht klar komm.Leider ist mein Hausarzt kein Spezialisit deswegen wollte ich fragen ob jemand sich damit genügend auskennt um sagen zu können ob die Werte ok sind oder eher schlimm/schlecht. Dank 3.5 Jahren gatekeeping was E-Werte angeht hab ich irgendwo die Schnauze voll das nichts voran geht.

As background, we do have platinum passes and this will be our 4th CF park after Kings Dominion, Carowinds, and Kings Island. So, parking and ERT are a couple of benefits that we already have. We will have at least 2 half days + 1 full day at Cedar Point (2nd half of day 1; full day; 1st half of day 2). If my work schedule allows, it will be two full days and then a half day on getaway day

• Is there any benefit (other than walking to park instead of driving) to staying at a CP hotel for someone who already has platinum passes?
• Has anyone stayed at the Best Western? It has a 4.0 out of 5 review on tripadvisor. However, there are not a lot of written reviews over the past 6-12 months, and many of those have fairly negative comments.
• We are ideally looking for room(s) with 3 beds with the 3rd being an actual bed and not a couch or futon. The Best Western 2 connecting room suite is $150 cheaper per night than the next lowest CP hotel option that I can find. It's about $50/night cheaper than some of the cheapest VRBO options.
• If we stay offsite, does Cedar Park Dr backup significantly before the parking lot opens? Best time to get in line for parking.
• What are the lowest/slowest capacity rides? For example, at Kings Island when we head back to Area 52 (Orion and Flight of Fear), we've been getting on Flight of Fear first and then Orion 2nd. Most folks head to Orion first and FoF 2nd. However, Orion chews through crowds faster than FoF can handle. If you do Orion 1st (15 minute wait), FoF is already at a 30-60 minute wait if you ride it 2nd. If you do FoF 1st (15 minute wait), your wait for Orion is still typically only 15-20 minutes.
• If yesterday's wait times are representative to what we would see next week, it looks like Maverick, SteVe, and Wild Mouse generally will have 45-60 hour waits all day w/o the FLP. I'm guessing it's best to start with Wild Mouse ERT, Millenium Force ERT, and then hop in line for SteVe is the best way to go about it?
• I've read the FLP doesn't cut as much out of the line for SteVe as it does for other coasters. About half the wait?
• Does cooler temperatures (mid-70's next week) impact wait times by having fewer people split off to the water park?
• Can you hop in a long line 5 minutes before close or do they try to cut off lines so that rides are finished near closing time? For example, if the park closes at 8pm, and there is a 1-hour wait for SteVe, are they cutting off the SteVe line at 7pm or can you hop in line at 7:55pm?

About 7 months ago, I (26F) started to find out what a disgusting, horrible person my own father (54M) is. The worst part is it’s not blatant. He genuinely thinks he’s a great, sweet, loving guy and constantly puts himself in the position of victimhood and martyrdom.
So, long story short, he wants to now divorce my mom because of mistakes HE’S made and can’t face (a little background is in my profile if you’re interested). Something evil has a hold of him, I can feel it. He’s constantly pretending to be a victim and is despicable after what he’s done.
Anyway, he recently told my little sister (who he abandoned during the hardest time of her life— she’s divorcing an abusive, diagnosed narcissist) that he met someone on a dating app “elite singles.” Yikes. He’s not divorced yet and set up a dating profile on a place called “elite singles.” I know he’s my father, but if he’s “elite,” then so is a rusty dumpster behind Taco Bell.
He’s been chatting with this woman for I think like 4-6 weeks? He met her family, hangs out with her kids all the time, has a cutesy nickname for her, and IS MOVING TO HER STATE 1,000 MILES AWAY. Cause guess what? He wants to get a job there so he can be near her. Guess what we’ve been begging him to do for months? Get a job to support the family!! He has a medical degree, but REFUSED to work even when we were/are in half a million in debt and owed everyone around us thousands. He constantly refused to work after his own wife and kids begged him for the better part of a year (we all work but can’t make nearly as much as he can— he was/is the only one with the earning potential to pull us out of this debt). Now he meets this younger woman he’s only known for weeks and says “it’s so great visiting her cause it feels so good to be welcomed and cared for 🥺” (he’s constantly saying how he feels so unwelcome with us because we’re mad at him because of all he’s done) and is planning to MOVE ACROSS THE ENTIRE COUNTRY TO GET A JOB FOR HER.
To get a job.
The thing we’ve begged him to do for almost a year to save us from financial ruin.
To be near this woman and her family who he feels so welcome with.
We are half a mil in debt because he stole from my mom, made sh!tty investments, sank their money into useless things, and absolutely REFUSED to work. Now he’s starting over with a new younger woman.
