2023.05.28 05:28 MycologistParty8455 New Car (Potentially)
Hey everyone! So I am potentially buying an N shortly, within the next two weeks or so. I am wondering how much people have paid for theirs as they quote this, with taxes, at basically 38k. With my downpayment, the price of financing would be around 26k and the monthly payment they stated would be like 450 to 500. Is that reasonable or even worth it because it seems a little high tbh. If anyone has any insight let me know. I drove a Veloster N once and I loved it but it’s a bit pricey. It’s a DCT 2022 in Performance Blue with 12,971 miles on it.

2023.05.28 05:26 Born_Message5877 Visual Studio Projects No Longer Open, Error: "Undo operation..."
First, want to say I appreciate anyone who simply takes the time to read this. I'm not very knowledgeable on this.
The problem: I can no longer open any visual studio projects. I receive the error: "Undo operation must be performed on the thread where the corresponding context was Set."
This error pops up after trying to start a new project and then is followed by the warning: "The following files were specified on the command line: C:\Users\user\source\repos\projectName\projectName.sln These files could not be found and will not be loaded."
I'm guessing the second warning popped up because the project creation failed in the first place.
How I got here: Wanted to rewrite a Leet code solution in visual studio. Decided to try using the "empty project" template instead of the C++ console app template that prints "Hello World." I opened the new empty project and then tried to add a source file. Could not find a way to do this, which I found strange. So I clicked on a couple of buttons on the side menu and along the top to see if the option to add a file would come up. I don't think I hit anything crazy.
Decided to give up on it and just create a project with the C++ console app template like usual. Except now every time I tried to do this I received an error. Couldn't open old projects either. Tried to google the problem but I couldn't find anything that seemed the same, at least not to me.
Saw some people talk about updating/reinstalling and thought that would work. So I uninstalled then reinstalled visual studio and now I am in the current mess. Really not sure how to solve this.
I'd very much appreciate any thoughts on this or if I could get pointed in the right direction. My explanation is not very technical. I thought uninstalling would work, but if there's a better way that I can just delete everything to start fresh I'd be happy with that too.

2023.05.28 05:25 OkDetective1891 Where can i buy a corset bodysuit?
When I try to find an overbust corset bodysuit online, all i get are a bunch of results for shapewear spanx stuff and maybe one result for a 500 dollar corset that is actually close to what i'm looking for. My budget is around half that amount, so are there any good overbust bodysuit corsets around that are decently priced? or should i try to save up and get the more expensive one?
Also i just need a plain, simple, basic one with maybe a sweetheart neckline. + i reallyyy need it to be a bodysuit i can't improvise and get one that isn't
thank you so much for helping me if you do!

2023.05.28 05:25 sierralz Announcement to our LGS Community!
Hello Lovely LGS Community!
Wherever you are in the world, welcome! We are thrilled that our sub is growing with creative ideas and beautiful jewelry. A huge thank you to all the members, reps, and vendors who make this possible. Your hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated. We definitely wouldn’t be able to enjoy our sparklies without you! As the sub continues to grow, we’d like to share a few reminders:
Google doc is a great way to collect data. Please keep in mind the only personal info allowed to be collected is an email address. This is to ensure everyone’s privacy is respected and aligned with Reddit policies. Once the vendor receives your email, they will then collect additional data to complete the transaction. No one, other than the vendor you are working with, should ever request your personal information. If you encounter interactions that seem suspicious, please notify the mods. We want everyone to be safe!
Group sales are based on multiple people purchasing the same item, with some variations such as metal type/color, stone colotype, chain length, etc. A group sale hits that sweet spot where users are getting a discount and the vendors are making a profit by producing a particular design. Offering completely different and multiple pieces with different pricing levels defeats the purpose of a group sale. Please keep this in mind when designing a piece.
Once your sale is established with a vendor, please direct all subsequent communication to only the vendor. Your contract is with the vendor or rep, not the user who organized the sale. The LGS vendors are from the recommended vendor list (
moissanite) and they have agreed to follow the required sub rules.
Please be thoughtful before completing the google form or committing to the vendor. While changing your mind is perfectly fine, group sales are based on a specific number of purchases necessary to achieve the projected discount. Commitments that fall through can affect everyone’s price. Additionally, please remember to factor in shipping, potential VAT, customs, and payment fees (PayPal, etc.) into the total purchase price.
All inspiration photos should remain free of branded names (logos, etc.). Feel free to work with a rep to create a CAD and/or image examples. If inspired to create a piece based on someone’s design, ask permission to use their photo or CAD. And, of course, please post reviews/photos to the related subs (
moissanite,
syntheticgemstones,
labcreateddiamonds.) We all love seeing them!
Again, we want to thank all you for making this sub a success! This sub takes a huge amount of work, we appreciate all of you. We mods are here to help, so please reach out anytime. We are all looking forward to more beautiful creations to come!

2023.05.28 05:25 radragantav Healthy Food Budget?
Hey folks, I’ve always been very tight with my money for most things, but my wife and I are just absolutely horrid with food costs. We currently spend $1200 a month on food (I know :(). I wasn’t even aware of this until we started looking at all of our statements.
Overall, this is about 8% of our after tax income. The clear, obvious move is to stop eating out. But I’m curious how some people make healthy food on a budget, what that looks like, and how much the spend is.
Where do you shop? What do you buy? How do you plan out your meals to feed your family? Any favorite cookbooks? Is there any eating out, and if so, how much?
For reference - I live in the Bay Area so food prices are heavily inflated, but not to the point to justify our ridiculous spend. Couple that with the never ending misery of not losing weight because we spend so much on food, and it’s a vicious cycle. I have a wife and a 3 year old.
I feel like I need a Financial Peace University for nutrition. But I think a good first step is a sustainable method of just buying quality groceries and meal planning. I wonder if I can get this down to $500 or less a month.

2023.05.28 05:20 15oct-anon-user AM4 vs AM5 vs Intel i5 13600k in 2023
Hey! I am building my first ever PC and needed some help in choosing parts.
I am a software engineer by profession and will be spending a decent chunk of my time running heavy IDEs, a million Firefox tabs and a bunch of other software in parallel. Otherwise, I have a nice TV (LG C2, 4K 120Hz) that I plan to connect via a long HDMI cable for playing games (only single-player and indie).
Based on some research I have narrowed the build down to these platforms and some common parts (in the table):
- AM4 ~£370
- 5800x, MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK, Corsair Vengeance 2x8 GB DDR4-3200 CL16
- Intel ~£500
- 13600k, MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4, Corsair Vengeance 2x8 GB DDR4-3200 CL16
- AM5 ~£610
- 7700x, MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK, Corsair Vengeance 2x16 GB DDR5-5600 CL36
Common parts:
Type | Item | Price | Rationale |
CPU Cooler | Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE | £40 | Seems like the best value for its cooling potential |
Storage | Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 TB | £100 | Need atleast 2TB of fast storage and the Samsung drive seems significantly faster than SATA drives yet not as expensive as premium drives. |
GPU | Asus Dual 4070 | £600 | Good 1440p performance and decent 4K, better RT (with DLSS) than any other GPU at this price, CUDA cores for experimenting with some ML workloads. |
PSU | Corsair RM850x | £145 | Seems like a well reviewed product but might be overkill for this build? |
Case | Fractal North | £130 | I just like the way this case looks :) |
I understand that AM4 and LGA1700 are both end of line and that AM5 has support until 2025, but I don't see myself upgrading the CPU before then (or even until 2027/8), so upgradability is not a criteria.
Given all that, I had some questions for you fine gentlemen:
- Is DDR5 worth the extra price today? Does it offer any meaningful benefits in productivity/gaming?
- I am leaning towards an Intel/AM5 build simply because they are both quite a bit faster than the 5800x, but the price savings of the AM4 platform are difficult to overlook - which one would you recommend for my use case? My naive understanding is that for gaming, the 5800x shouldn't be a bottleneck at 1440p/4k but the newer platforms are quite a bit better for productivity.
- It is okay/recommended to use a lower wattage PSU for such a build, and if so, which one would you recommend?
Otherwise, any feedback on parts is very much appreciated!
Thanks

2023.05.28 05:20 kratosownsthishole it’s getting to be too much
yesterday i was verbally harassed by a guest and told i was going to hell for being gay. it started out as a normal conversation, he asked for the price on a bluetooth speaker and i told him and when he asked if they usually go on sale i said they might near the fourth of july. he then said “the world isnt going to last that long.” upon seeing my confusion he elaborated and said that when pride month starts all us (insert f slur) will drag the world into hell. when i responded and said i don’t believe in that stuff and tried to walk away he said that he can see in my eyes that i only care about my looks and sex and drugs and money and the devil will offer those things to me and like all other (insert f slur) i will give in and dance my way into hell. at this point i started laughing and just saying sure buddy. he kept telling me i was gunna burn for all eternity on and on for a minute or so till a team member called me to open the tech lockup and i used that as my cue to leave. i told my etl and 33 but he had already left. i didn’t let it get to me and i joked about it with my coworkers. it was jarring for sure but it wasn’t the first time i’ve been told i’m going to hell and it won’t be the last. that’s just part 1 of this story. flash forward to today. while i was getting ready to come in for my closing shift the opener text the group chat about some comments our marketsource/mobile/target tech guy was saying. two team members (one of them target one of them marketsource) were wearing pride stickers and their name tags and he called them queers. as cis straight men the didn’t take offense but decided to let the group chat know. i then come in to work and as i’m walking up to the desk to do the key handoff with the opener, the bigot previously mentioned gives me a long loathing look and asks the opener how he could support that and motions towards me. i told my etl and hr and they said they’d follow up tomorrow with his DM. throughout the night he kept giving me dirty looks and my etl advised me to stay away from the desk because she knows first hand how quickly i will handle a situation. so i wandered aimlessly around the store zoning and grabbing reshop unable to fully work my department. as i walked around word spread about what happened both yesterday and today and everyone kept coming up to me asking me if i was okay. i kept joking about it and laughing it off but as more and more came up to me the reality started to really hit that i had faced this vile hate back to back in less than a 24 hour span. then my etl found me in the tech lockup trying not to cry. he pulled me into the office and i just cried to him about it and then he sent me home. i just feel so unsafe at work now.

I'm trying to find a 16"-20" bufferless upper for the Reap Weaponries Scy that can be had at a reasonable price. Preferably $500-$600 dollars complete. I like the concept of the Scy, and the Sickle would be nice to go with this, but there's not many bufferless uppers in this price range that I can find.
Going for a more longer range concept with this, in conjunction with an LPVO.

2023.05.28 05:17 Big-Ask-8725 Laptop/pc advice
Hello guys, I am an international student in Canada. I was looking to upgrade from my old gaming laptop to either PC or laptop on 24 month instalments. Because i cant pay for full price.
I have background in game creation, and vfx. So it is important that my system is powerful enough to support my work and also do heavy AAA gaming. Im also taking VFX course so I believe a newsystem would help.
Here is the confusing part. I can’t decide if I should get laptop or pre built gaming pc. I shortlisted two systems.
- Asus rog strix scar 16 2023. Atleast 4070 or 4080 and it has mini led. It costs me around $4000 CAD . And monthly I have to pay around $150 CAD.
https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_4419_4428&item_id=234888 - Or I go with prebuilt desktop. With atleast 3070 . It will cost less and i just have to get a normal monitor. It would cost me $1800 cad plus the monitor. $2000 in total. And that would be just $100 cad per month.
https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=1446_1448&item_id=237440 So what would you guys recommend? The laptop has higher cost. But i feel it would help me in my course and work , gaming. Plus it has mini led.
While the desktop would also get job done except for portability but then i have to buy cheap Monitor and the visuals wont be that good.
