2023.05.28 04:06 anonymousdshaoq I did everything but how do I tell someone that?

I feel like I have to explain my resume because it is so much. I don't feel I am doing a good job self-representing my skills. I was a work-study at my college. This is where I learned how Fafsa and loans worked. I had to collect 1040s and govt IDs and other documentation to attach to specific forms that go into a student's file. This taught me about protecting people's information and execute a clear process. This is my first admin role. I graduated and started my job a month later in Jan 2019. So in this role, it is a high call volume call center. The name of my real title was HR Specialist. But I've googled that and higher titles and I'm not a specialist. I'm a generalist who is specialized in everything. We were the first point of contact and it wasn't enough to say, I don't know the answer. It wasn't enough to give a half answer. We had tough metrics to meet. We had to know everything in detail. I had to know state law for terminations and other non-company policies. I can't express to anyone how hard I worked to be the top NPS performer. I stayed as this tier 1 role the entire 3 years I was there but again, so many changes happened since 2019 and since I was so good at my customer service experience and the depth of my knowledge was extensive, I got selected to do things that no specialist would know unless that was their only job. So I take pride in my work here. It is in my nature to be the subject matter expert and teach others. The call center beat me up and eventually I decided my mental health was more important than my loyalty to a company. I went to work at a non profit but unfortunately there were too many bad seeds that I left. Before I did though, I was the first person ever hired into this role. I built this role. I built the structure of how I would support the hiring managers. I built out the relationships with colleges and companies - contracts and career fairs. They were happy with my services and the amount of talent I was bringing in but as mentioned, when your boss steals and the team acts in silos and is dysfunctional in general - you got to go. Now I'm at this company where I'm back in payroll. I don't think I mentioned that the "HR Specialist" role was heavily payroll focused. I never actually configured or processed payroll. But since I knew so much, it was easy to piece it all together. Btw, everyone in payroll said if you want to be successful in this role, you must learn how to pay a salaried pharmacist. They say many don't pick it up quickly. My training got cut short because of how smart I am. I kept getting told that I'm more than my title and how I know so much more than other people who had been in their 1 role for decades. I guess most people get a role, learn it, then promote and gain that additional knowledge. Well, not me because my last company demands you know every business process in detail as a tier 1. The next tier was called an HR Consultant. How vague is that. The difference was they were off the phones and did more back end stuff such as reports and investigating complicated questions. But get this - as mentioned we cannot hand off the phone to the second tier or the manager. We are fully responsible for ensuring the employee gets the right info in a timely fashion. And not only did I have to know the answer, the next step I had to do was email the Payroll Coordinator to actually make the changes. So I had to know why and how then tell them to do it. Of course I can be wrong but again, your performance rating is affected if you do. Okay back to this current role, here I am learning how to click which buttons to do specific tasks such as committing payroll or reversing a paper check. I know the BP, just never clicked the buttons before. Well great now I have that in my experience. I watched the contractors configure time tracking codes. My role now is to know this company's pay, time tracking and absence to a T so I can test and validate the system's configuration. I have to know when something is wrong and tell them what it needs to be. They're clicking the buttons to make it happen. So I want to go into HRIS because it is back of house and not call center. Plus my knowledge extends to other BPs so I can manage the whole org. Now the reason I was denied this HRIS tier 3 role, first ever at the company, is because I don't have 10 years of the actual config experience. Fair enough because we need a super strong team before we can offer lower tiered HRIS roles. But here I am in a position where my contract ends in 2 months and while my boss wants to convert me to permanent status, that is only possible if a role is open and if I get it. I want to be prepared for the next interview regardless of where. Interviewers say I make a great impression. But I can sense that I am not expressing myself well enough to convey how much experience I bring to the table. I am super excited to hear what you all have to say and I cannot be more grateful for you taking the time to read my novel to help me be more concise in writing and in my speech. Thank you again.

2023.05.28 04:06 70125 Less cushioned shoe more comfortable for long runs?

Training for a marathon, my strategy was to use the Brooks Hyperion Tempo as my <5mi and tempo trainer, and the Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 as my long distance shoe.
This worked great until I started doing 10+ miles for my long runs. At 11ish miles the SE2s gave me horrible hip and knee pain.
I swapped them out for Nike Invincible 3s and within one mile they triggered the exact same pain (in addition to making me feel like a mob rat getting ready for one last swim).
So being wary of cushioned shoes I decided to try today's 15 miler with my Hyperion Tempos and...it just worked. I was cruising at a 9min pace the whole time with no pain. My knee hurts a little now afterwards but nowhere near the pain I had after a shorter 13.1mi run in my SE2s.
I'm planning to try the Ghost as a "middle ground" shoe (from a brand that clearly agrees with my stride/anatomy) to protect my knees in the long-term, since I worry about putting lots of long miles on a relatively uncushioned shoe.
Is this strange? Have any of y'all experienced this?

2023.05.28 04:06 Sarsfeee AITA for asking someone to stop tapping their foot in a dress rehearsal?

This occurred December 2022.
I am freshly graduated from uni with a master in music and one of our class requirements was to take two credits in chamber (small ensemble) courses. I play flute so I (26f), L (23f), S(22f) and K(18f) decided that it would be fun to take the year and form a flute quartet to fulfill our chamber requirements.
I met L and we became fast friends when we entered uni as first year masters students. S and K were also good friends, but I didn't get to know them really well until this last year with the quartet.
So we formed this quartet. It started out well, but I kept feeling like my opinion and critique weren't being taken seriously. I felt like I was being left out, the other three at times literally forming circles to keep my out of conversations, and other stuff. There was also other stuff with L that had been happening in our personal friendship that was coming to a head, but that's a whole lot of other crap.
But in December we were having a dress rehearsal for the quartet piece that we were performing a few days later. We were rehearsing and I asked L of she could not tap her foot so we could rehearse without it. She responded that she always did that to which I said, that's fine, but we should try it a few times so that we can do it with out the tapping in the performance.
There's more back and forth, voices get raised, but neither one of us were yelling, and we drop it to go back and finish rehearsal.
We leave and I go to where I park and the other three leave together. I send a text to L saying that we need to talk and get ghosted for the rest of the day. I message her the next morning asking if we could talk. She responds later saying that she needs time to cool down, but says that we're good. So I let it be even though my anxiety is through the roof at this point.
Days pass and the performance happens. L says some things that are sparky and I leave the room and express my frustration to S and K in tears as I'm trying to figure things out. Where I might be TAH is that I followed them to a rehearsal that I wasnt needed in. Like full on into the room, I shouldn't have done that but I was so confused about the situation.
Another few days pass and the whole quartet sets up a meeting and L and I agree to talk after this discussion. We give each one of us 2 minutes to talk and I go first.
I express how I felt that I was being left out, how I felt that L was taking over rehearsals, and that i felt the opinions and voices of the others in the group were not being heard.
L said that she felt that I wasnt preparing my part for the quartet well enough, that she had to dumb herself down for me to acknowledge her comments, feels that I'm just blaming her, and that I have made the environment unsafe for her. She also iterates that I did this right before our schools ensemble auditions. This flabergasted me because why would i want to start a fight generally? Let alone before these auditions? I think she only brought it up because she got a result that she didn't like, yet the others of the quartet did so well (I was genuinely happy for them because one hadn't been in the top ensembles before!) and wanted to blame me... idk it just messed with my head so much...
S pretty much says that she's disappointed about not learning more rep and also felt unsafe.
K expressed that she had no idea that there was any of this going on. She thought that things were going okay.
There's banter back and forth, most of which I don't remember. I do apologize for the communication issues from my end but I'm literally in tears as all of this is happening. I know the internet is just a bunch of strangers, and questions of character are always up in their air without full context, but I have always made it a point to make every environment im in a safe and caring one.
When we end the meeting I ask L if we can still have our personal conversation and she say that she won't because I was being too emotional. She then goes on to say that she doesn't feel that the quartet will survive into next semester. We all agree to give some space with the winter break and have a zoom meeting half way to discuss things further.
I go home and am balling as I call up a friend from my undergrad and explain all of this. He expressed that I was being gasslit and manipulated. Another friend not in the school also said the same thing. Friends from my uni at the time said that it was an overreaction and should've just been talked about.
All of them said that the hangup was on the unsafe comment that was said and that it was out of my character. I want to agree with them, but idk at this point. More has happened, but this is the general gist of what happened.
So, AITA for asking someone to stop tapping their foot in a dress rehearsal? I appreciate your comments, roasts, and advice.

2023.05.28 04:05 Sheikhonderun One’s abilities, Hardship and Allah’s wisdom

Excerpt from Ibrahim Dewla’s speeches.
Allah will not place that responsibility that exceeds one’s abilities. They don’t possess this ability Allah will not task them. As a matter of fact as abilities diminish, there is ease (in religion). One cannot make wudhu then you can make tayammum (dry ritual purification); in the instance using water will harm the individual, there is no water, to obtain water is difficult. In these unusual circumstances, there is ease.
“Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship” (2:185)
Allah does not intent hardship. So then that ‘hardship’ that we see what is that? That is Allah’s wisdom. There is wisdom which is why this hardship came about. We have to attest our belief in Allah’s wisdom. Why? Because Allah is wise (Hakeem). Whatever is done by Allah its done according to His wisdom. Just like a doctor asks someone to abstain from such and such. “Don’t eat this, don’t exert yourself physically etc”. This restrain is due to wisdom. Wisdom (hikmat) is an attribute of Allah (swt).
Allah (swt) sees a shortcoming in his slave or the objective (of difficulty) is elevation then this is manifestation of wisdom. That’s why its said if due to wisdom there is deterrence, due to wisdom there is hardship no one should despair. This act of Allah is by His wisdom, this barrier will be opened through Allah’s power.
“If Allah per His wisdom closes one door, don’t be alarmed. Allah per His wisdom will open another door for you.” (Persian couplet)
Similar to how a mother stops producing milk, this doesn’t result in the child dying. Rather after mother stops producing milk, so many other doors of eating and drinking open up. One door closed and how many doors were opened!
This is a commandment (to have hope). Prophet (saw) would mention to his Companions.
Jabir bin ‘Abdullah (rad) reported: I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying three days before his death: “Let none of you die unless he has good expectations from Allah”. (Riyad as Salihin 441)

2023.05.28 04:04 fleetmacbb Would it be appropriate for me to attend mass purely to find a virgin man?

I want to find a partner who is not sex-crazed. So far, what I have found is that male virgins in their mid-late twenties are
  1. Either Complete weirdos / not attractive AT ALL / have some type of extreme insecurity / closested (aka gay)
  2. Are super religious and waiting for marriage (even then, being a virgin is rare by early-late twenties. Most Catholic people I know my age are all sleeping around. But maybe if I go to a more traditional small church, they’ll be different)
I feel like going to mass would be my last resort because clubs and bars don’t attract the best men normally. I am technically Catholic too (I was confirmed etc), but I stopped going to mass because I don’t really believe in any of it (sorry). I am at that age where I really want a good life-long partner. As a female in her young twenties, I feel like my time is running out and sadly women “expire” after mid twenties in a man’s eyes because twenties is the best time to have babies. Is it worth it to attend mass and try to connect with some men? Or is that offensive? Genuinely asking.

2023.05.28 04:04 Known-Blueberry In early 40's and going back to school for a music degree in 3-5 years--looking for advice regarding instrument choice

I apologize in advance for the long post.

So, I'm in my early 40's and am pursuing FIRE (Financial Independence Retire Early; https://www.reddit.com/Fire/). If all goes to plan, I should achieve it within the next 3-5 years. I'm hoping to go back to school for a degree in music after FIRE, but am facing a conflict regarding which instrument I want to play.
When I was younger, I taught myself electric guitar and played rock/metal type of stuff. Then life happened and I didn't touch a guitar for over 10 years. Around 6 or 7 years ago I wanted to get back into music as a hobby, and given I wasn't a young metal head anymore, figured I could get into classical guitar so that I wouldn't have to start from scratch with a brand new instrument. Over the last 6 or 7 years I've had an off again/off again relationship with classical guitar--I'll practice for a while, then hit a roadblock and quit, then pick it back up, etc. With all of the starts and stops, I've reached lower intermediate/intermediate level.
Recently, given the potential goal of going back to school for a music degree after FIRE, I've been getting into classical music more broadly, which to be honest has made me kind of despise the classical guitar a bit. In isolation, a classical guitar sounds ok. However, next to any "proper" classical instrument (e.g., in a concerto, duet, etc.) it just sounds so weak and unexpressive. In addition, I have relatively small hands, which makes certain things on the classical guitar a bit difficult. For example, trying to bar all 6 strings on the 2nd fret while simultaneously playing a note on the 5th or 6th fret really strains my left hand and it is uncomfortable to attempt/practice for long periods. Overall, I'm not sure how much passion I have for classical guitar. Yes, it has a few cool pieces, but compared to other classical instruments it seems so deficient. If I didn't already have experience with electric guitar, I don't know if I would have ever picked up the classical guitar.
Given all this, I'm wondering if it might be worth it to start playing violin. Basically, in the next 3 to 5 years before beginning the music degree I could go from absolute beginner to something like lower intermediate in violin, or from intermediate to upper intermediate in guitar, as I don't have the time to practice two instruments right now. So, I have the following questions:
1) It is my perception that violin is perhaps less demanding for smaller hands--the stretches seem way smaller and there are no barre chords. Is this correct? I'm not saying that violin is easier overall by any means; I know there are other challenges with the bow and whatnot. But is my assumption regarding hand size related difficulty generally correct?
2) Would it be completely silly to give up years of progress to start from scratch with a new instrument given my age? Right now, I've fallen out of love with classical guitar a bit, but am cognizant of the fact that the same thing might happen with violin. Alternatively, if I were to make the push through the intermediate level with classical guitar, perhaps I would enjoy playing it more once I reach the more advanced levels. For those of you who have reached a high level of proficiency on an instrument, what is your opinion? Does the "grass seem greener on the other side" for all instruments at some point?
3) Are there any issues I'm not taking into account?
Thanks in advance!

2023.05.28 04:04 Creepy-Painting-9863 So angry at my mum.

I (25M) and my mum (43F) have not spoken in over a month now. I'm a postgraduate student studying away from home in a different country.
The crux of the issue is this... my mother is very hot tempered and yells quite a bit when she's upset. She's an African parent afterall so it's something my siblings and I are used to. I love my mother but this past incident was my breaking point.
I have been going through a really tough time lately with school and a lack of funds to finish my research work and cover other expenses. I've attended a number of interviews but jobs are also very difficult to find here at the moment perhaps because I do not yet have my masters which I'm working towards or perhaps because I'm not a native of the country I'm studying in but for whatever reason, it's been difficult so when it gets really difficult to the point where I sometimes am not able to eat due to severe financial difficulties, I reach out to my dad to see of he can help me.
Things aren't great at home either. My siblings are quite younger than I am (the oldest of them is 17F then there's 15M, 13F and 11M). I recognise this and know that I am not a priority and in a perfect world, I wouldn't be asking my dad to help me with something like this but it's the situation I find myself in. When things get to the extreme, then and only then do I reach out to him to see if he can help me a bit which if he's able to, he does and I'm really grateful or if he's not able to, I understand because like I said, I've got younger siblings and I'm not the priority.
So, I tried reaching out to my dad but I did not have any call minutes to make international calls or even to him. I tried WhatsApp but he hasn't been active in months so I reached out to my sister (17F) schooling back in our country and asked her to please deliver the message for me but she too wasn't online so I texted my mum on WhatsApp and asked her to please call my sister and ask her to come online. She asked if everything was ok so I explained that I had a message that I needed my sister to pass on to my dad urgently. She reached out to my sister and later returned to ask me what the message was about. I told my mum how difficult things were for me. I told her I was in debt and broke to an incredible degree and I was asking my dad if he could be of some assistance to me.
She asked what debt I had and I told her about the lady who owns a little shop close to where I live and how she's given me some food items on credit for months now and I wanted to pay her something. When I said this, my mum got angry and started yelling at me. There was an incident in the past with this particular lady at the shop where she got a little aggressive with me about paying her what I owed and as embarrassing as the situation was back then, I didn't talk back to her or raise my voice in anyway. I simply did my best and paid her in full. I'd told my mum about this incident at the time and spoken about how embarrassing it was for me and I decided not to take anything on credit from her anymore but when things get so bad to the point where I couldn't feed yourself, I had no other option but to return to her asking to take a few food items on credit which she gave me.
However, when my mum heard this, she got angry with me and asked me why I went back to the lady to take things from her again after the past incident. Before I could speak and explain, she sent me a 4 minutes long voice note on WhatsApp yelling and screaming at me and I kinda just snapped at that point and asked her to stop yelling at me. I told her she isn't here and doesn't know my situation at this moment or what I'm going through. I told her that I have almost never asked her for any kind of financial assistance because I know things aren't great with her either. I told her that all I asked her for was to please ask my sister to come online on WhatsApp and that was it instead she's yelling at me. She couldn't calm down for a minute to hear me speak or listen to me before making up her own conclusions and shouting at me.
I never ask my mum for money when I'm in dire situations because I know she doesn't have. Instead, I usually send her money occasionally when I can. After she and my dad had a very contentious separation and she moved cities, she'd get ill consistently with malaria and typhoid and I spent so much money each time getting her the needed treatment but she cannot give me a minute to hear me out?
Anyway, after I told her not to yell at me, she replied with "if you were here and said this to my face, I'd have slapped you very hard". I got even angrier when I read that and I told her that I was never going to ask her for any favours anymore. I told her that if I was dying, it was no longer any business of hers and that I was going to sort out my problems myself without ever involving her anymore and we haven't spoken since then. When I said that, she said I was lucky I wasn't in her presence at the moment else she would have slapped me and I didn't respond.
I texted my sister and told her what happened. I was so angry. I was and still am very depressed. What if I was at my wits end and her yelling at me was what drove me over the edge to end things? Would she be happy? If I decided to open up to her about my struggles, would she be able to take it? Why can she not calm down and hear me out for even a second? When she separated from my dad, 5 years ago, she left all 4 of my siblings with my dad and moved away to a different city. When I tried explaining how this action could be damaging to my siblings as they were so young then, she said she was going to lay a curse on me for speaking to her that way.
When I tell her the uncomfortable truth, she threatens to slap or curse me but she believes she's the moral authority and no one can ever point out her flaws.
Sometimes, in the past month, I have thought about contacting her but it's dawned on me that she hasn't made the conscious decision to contact me either so I refuse to reach out to her. The other day she asked a family friend to reach out to me and talk about somethings and I told them to tell her that if she wants us to speak again then she has to apologise for what she's done because I am so angry with her. That was almost 2 weeks ago.
This is the hill I'm willing to die on.

2023.05.28 04:03 Sarsfeee AITA for asking someone to stop tapping their foot in a dress rehearsal?

2023.05.28 04:03 FalcoonnnnPUNCH "L" rug update

All the train lines are complete! Still need to finish the stop and direction arrow details then fill in the streets and background. Can finally see the end in sight though, which feels good.
If I were to do this again, I would probably not do the route arrows and walkway transfers. The smaller details I'm afraid won't turn out great.
Still, all things considered, I am pretty happy with it at this point.

2023.05.28 04:02 Emergency_Ad1116 My dog got hit by a car and I blame my grandmother for it

The family dog Joey got hit by a car yesterday. After my mother put him outside to get him some fresh air he broke off the leash and ran into the street and got hit. I was asleep but that’s what happened I believe no one saw it but the person who I believed hit him. She said get your damn dog you should’ve been watching him she sounded angry . I just know she hit him and sped away. It’s so awful but I blame my grandma it’s more so her dog then anyone else’s he follows her around and does everything and eats with her. Their stuck together like glue I’ve been trying to get him trained for months but instead my grandma insisted that she could train him. All she did was reward him for bad behavior it’s her fault he’s dead if he listened when someone said stop or come here then he wouldn’t have ran into the street. It’s terrible and it’s her fault tried so hard to protect him from the worst case scenario and it still happened. I knew it would’ve only been a matter of time before he got hit. His back legs were broken his pelvic bone was shattered his bladder was ruptured because they couldn’t see it. His lungs were messed up 1 punctured and one collapsed. His foot was bleeding and he was bleeding from his mouth because he bit his tongue . He was in shock and in pain I held him and smelled the irony smell of his blood. He couldn’t breathe and they said he wouldn’t make it to the hospital to be stabilized. We put him down and I so sad and upset so unfair when I get my dog she will have no say so .

2023.05.28 04:01 WoefullyIneptPigeon A Guide on Nyx

First off. I'm sorry about the wall of text, but loopholes and leaving info out bothers me for whatever reason. My friends like to call me an info dump when I'm explaining something. It's more than deserved and it doesn't mean I'm always right about something lol. Some of the info here is basic stuff, some isn't. I also play her primarily as a point tank because she benefits from being near where the fight is centered around. If you don't want to read all of it, there's one thing I'm trying to spread about her that's super cool in the Royal Presence section that I bolded. Funny enough KamiVS just did it in a new video he posted yesterday so there's footage of it. I won't be offended if you don't read all of this, I was just answering another post and it ended up being way too long so I'm putting this here.
On to the guide and feel free to correct me on things or put your own ideas of the character in the comments!

General
Nyx is a much better point tank than a lot of people think. Being patient also really helps with her; not just in learning her, but also in stealing the point. She's not broken or the best, but she's good and can be pretty versatile when you get her down. It just takes bit of time to get a playstyle that works with her down.
The first thing to know is that she does a LOT of damage, but it's slow. You have to play point patiently with her and take your opportunities when you see them. She's great at denying space and dealing wide areas of damage. Even if that damage seems small, it adds up. Which you'll see me say over and over again. Instead of holding point more defensively than offensively like say an Inara would, Nyx does the opposite. She uses slow sneaky damage to steal the point and try and angle herself where she can poke a little close, but safe. You always want to be where your support can see you and protect them even more than another tank would. They're your lifeline and only source of healing.
When you use either her shield or presence and don't have a need for it to be active anymore, then re-activate them to end the effect so that you can get your cooldown back faster.
Last thing is that if your support isn't very good you're going to have a ton of trouble staying up so you have to play a lot safer and use your poison, rift slash, and poke to try and steal what space you can. If your dps isn't very good, then a lot of the slow damage you're doing is going to get wasted. It's your job to weaken the enemy and their job to finish them off. Not that you can't still get picks and burst people down, but bad dps is really going to make things much harder on you than another tank would especially if their target priority isn't good. Making enemies back up or just die is how you're going to survive along with knowing when to back yourself. But if your dps and/or your support is at least decent you can create so many opportunities for your team, which makes the character a lot of fun.
Weapon
Her weapon shots gets +75 damage within 20 units, which is not far at all. It's essentially nose to nose, but when you think it's within survivable space, try and get into that range for the extra dps. She goes from ~483 dps to ~608 dps if she hits all bonus damage shots in one combo (about 3 seconds when I timed it. Someone could correct me if I'm wrong there though.) It will really benefit you to move strafe forward and then back a little when you fire to try and get that bonus damage, but also maintain a little space. Mess around with it in the shooting range to get used to that if you don't already do it.

Abyssal Fortress
I have four tips for for the shield:
1.) When using it to protect yourself try to keep it close to you and of course strafe through it if enemies try and walk through to hit you. You can look a bit in front of you or straight down at the ground, but just remember 30 units isn't far and 1500 less shield is best to avoid when you can help it.
2.) Place the shield facing towards where the danger is. If most of the damage is in front of you, then place it there. If you're dueling the enemy tank because they're killable and there's two dps to your right, then place it towards them to block their damage.
3.) If you seen a teammate (especially your support) in need of protection don't be afraid to place the shield farther away near them to keep them from dying or to aid their retreat. If you're fighting point and think the save is more valuable, then retreat off point and protect the teammate by throwing a rift slash at whoever is chasing them or poking with your weapon if you can. But get away from the point if it'll kill you.
4.) If the enemy tank (like Barik, Ash, Atlas, or another Nyx) places their shield down before you do, don't be afraid to walk forward and put your shield past theirs to negate their value if you think it's survivable space.

Rift Slash
Rift slash isn't just good for damage or trying to get picks. It's also a great zoning/area denial tool. Don't be afraid to use it to keep people from being in a certain spot if you think you'll find more value than just damage. Also great for pushing the support from line of sight from their tank.
Also don't just use it for yourself. It can really help your flank get that pick if you notice it.
Using it is easier when you charge it for distance instead of damage. The distances are 25 units for 0-49% charge, 50 units for 50-99% charge, and 100 units for full charge. The damage increase is on the initial hit only and you can add more with your weapon than charging will and some players (not a lot, though) will hear the charge and know they need to dodge it, so faster is also better. Additionally, the hitbox when it's a projectile is smaller than the hitbox when it's stationary, so Show of Force cripple is easier to hit as well if you place it correctly. You'll still want to aim directly for enemies, but knowing this can make it a lot easier to hit. You also sometimes want to walk forward or back to get the the area where the slash will stop.
Pre-firing Rift Slash can be a good idea, especially if you know the enemy is going to be near a certain distance. But if the charge will go farther than the enemy you want to hit you have three options:
1.) Hit the enemy with the claw projectile
2.) Hit an object ~15 units near them (includes deployables)
3.) If you're on high ground, aim at the ground near them.
Last thing I'll add on this is that if you need to retreat, hit enemies with the slow or put it in a spot that'll get in their way so you can get out of trouble more safely.
FOR ENEMIES WITH SHIELDS: Fire your rift slash above them at roughly the units you would need to diagonally to get that initial hit damage (and cripple on Show of Force.) Sometimes you'll still hit the shield, but hey we tried. They'll still take the pulse damage like they would have if you just hit the shield.

Royal Presence
For Royal Presence (her F,) don't think of it as just a defensive ability that makes the damage you take slower. It's great for that, but it's also a great offensive ability for punishing enemies for grouping up near you and racking up that ult charge! You'll be surprised how fast you'll get it with Abyssal Authority and Center of Combat. Sure the damage on the poison is slow, but you don't have to aim it and it can only really be cleansed by ethereal like Grohk & Seris' movement abilities, Zhin billow, and Koga dash.
The poison can also be re-procced, so if you touch an enemy with the aura again near before it ends, they take double damage. Meaning with Center of Combat 5 they can take a total of 30% health over 12 seconds. That's 3 times the damage at base and 6 times if you just got it one them once! People will really just stand in it and not respect the slow damage, but even if it can seem minimal it really does add up; damage is damage after all!
The pull is also really useful for getting a support out of position and then throwing Rift Slash on them, stopping the momentum of an enemy trying to run away, or trying to get an enemy off of one of your teammates. The hitbox for it is a small cone in front of you.
If you didn't know, you can cleanse all temp damage from presence with her ult. But a really cool thing about Royal Presence is that there's a small window where any damage you would take as purple health is automatically healed back up; without even having to use your ult for it. This window is less than a second and basically where her wings go in front of her right when you first activate presence. You don't need to activate the chain pull at all, so you still also get all the other perks of the ability and can save your ult! This means that you can run into Drogoz ult and right before he hits you, pop presence and you'll take no damage. Good Drogoz players will adapt and choose a different target or dodge you, but it's an awesome counter to a death sentence. This also works for tanking Jenos ult, Skye ult, etc. Any big burst damage, but also really any damage in that small window. You can practice this against the Cassie bots in the shooting range. Just wait before one of them fires at you and pop the first activation of Presence. Of course this doesn't work against Vora ult. No idea about Maeve's Street Justice talent however, but to me that's nearly impossible to time.
Last two things to touch on for Presence, but important is you can use it to retreat to get back to your support. You can also touch the enemy tank and hopefully the support with the poison, throw a rift slash if you need to, back up and heal/poke, and then re-proc the poison to add more damage and point pressure. The ability is really a nice mix of offense and defense.

Ultimate
For her ult you almost always want to use it while using Presence. You can pop Presence and run into the enemy and ult to cleanse all that damage you took and to make space or punish them for being too closely grouped up and then put rift slash on whoever got caught up in it. Also don't be afraid to use the cleanse from her ult defensively just to survive! Sometimes an enemy will still get hit by it or get pulled out of position. There's also three other things you can do with your ult I'll add:
1.) Use Rift Slash before ulting to slow enemies so they can't just run out. This is also way better in Show of Force since anyone you hit with it will be crippled and unable to use a movement ability to dodge the ult. This also works with Subjugation's root on Presence pull.
2.) Use the chain pull from presence right before ulting so their momentum is going towards you or to try and get an additional enemy into it. This ends your aura early, so any damage you take after the initial cleanse from your ult will be taken normally. Use this when you know it's safe too.
3.) If your shield is off cooldown, you can put it in front of you before you ult to block damage or pull them through it if you run the Abyssal Breach talent (you can do the same with chain pull.) You can also just put the shield down just before enemies come out of stun to block their damage and keep space/retreat.

Items
As for items the best items in my opinion for her are:
Chronos - She's really depends on her cooldowns both defensively and offensively. A lot of my damage is often half ability damage or more.
Rejuv - She gets a scaling 20% healing bonus near the objective. So 20% on it and still a bonus even if you're just a bit away from it. I'm still not sure where that bonus ends, but both of these together also stack against caut. So at Rejuv 3 on point and 90% caut, you're only in 40% caut. Still try to get out of combat (ideally still near the objective, but out of enemy sightlines) to get healed up by your support. But if you have to fight on point in caut, then you have to wait until you can use your shield to cleanse it.
Nimble - No movement ability means you need faster movement speed to get in and out of fights. A lot of value for not a lot of credits, but there are situations where you might not have space to buy it
Haven - Less damage better. Especially in Royal Presence.
Resilience - CC can really mess up your day, so resi is a must buy for her in those situations.
Points if you noticed that three of her items (Nimble, Resi, Rejuv) are actually pretty low cost, so getting your build up can be pretty fast sometimes.
As for her best item starts (if your support is something like Jenos or Corvus or a solo damage furia, start a Rejuv build):
1.) Chronos + Nimble - If you buy this, your third buy should almost always be rejuv unless there's a situation that calls for something else like something that needs counter or your support is just cracked and doesn't need it quite yet. But Rejuv is inevitable on this character.
2.) Rejuv + Resi - Best start when there's CC you don't want to deal with. Once Resi is at 2 you can start building out more, but rush that unless your opponent isn't very good with CC.
3.) Rejuv + Nimble / Rejuv alone - You need more healing
Redundant items for her are:
Illuminate - You can actually just track enemies that are invisible with the tick damage from royal presence and then throw rift slash on them, hit them with your weapon, and either kill them or push them out. It takes some getting used to for you to hit your shots just tracking the numbers, but it's nice to have the item slot freed up.
Morale Boost - You get so much ult charge from Presence ticks if you have her build set up right with Center of Combat and Abyssal Authority, so only reason to really buy this is if you really need your ult and your build doesn't include those.
Last thing about items is that while she isn't great with Wrecker, if your team is low on it and you feel like you need it: get it.

Cards
Onto her cards, I'll preface by saying that strong card go brrrr isn't always the best option on this character. She's got a lot of stuff that's a little weak in base kit, but much stronger when you buff it. So a balanced spread can help you out a lot. But also some of this is my opinion and you do you; if you want a card at 5 then that's your expression of the character. Remember that you should try to build characters to suit your own playstyle.

Best (No particular order):
Abyssal Authority - Getting more enemies in your aura means more passive damage. That means more ult charge, damage numbers for credits, and adding kill potential to your team even for enemies you aren't actually looking at. It doesn't seem like a lot at first, but it adds up as I mentioned above. If you're point tank you want this card at 3-4. 5 is kind of overkill, but do you.
Center of Combat - This is where a lot of your damage numbers will come from. Boosting aura damage is great. I have this at 4 on my main build which can rack up to 26% max health on a single target over 12 seconds. There's still a good benefit to 5, but I like to put that point elsewhere to balance my build out. Except in a Nyx mirror. They go 5 then you go 5 on this card.
Forever Changed - HP adds to your bulkiness which can really help you out. But if you'd rather go for something else, totally respectable. But have at least one build that has this card at 4 or 5 if you notice you find yourself in a situation that demands bulkiness.
The Little Things - Rift Slash is a hugely important tool on this character, so reducing it's cooldown is fantastic. Personally I have this at 2 because I have my points elsewhere and at this level I rarely don't have slash when I need it. But it still happens now and again. 4-5 is kind of overkill unless you're going off-tank though.
Devastating Blows - This card is amazing when you need it. You'll find yourself against enemies that usually won't be close to you though. Which negates the benefit of the card. That's why I have a build that just uses this as a filler card. I find that at 3 you're generally in the space you would be fighting another tank on point, but if you find that space to put it at 4 then go for it! 5 isn't too far off from 4 though, so the benefit in a point in another card is a little better, but that's just my opinion.

Pretty Good:
All Will Kneel - Rift slash is amazing at denying space, so adding some radius to it's pulses. That's 200 damage total over 2s or 300 over 3s in Show of Force, but the slow is the biggest benefit.
Unchecked Power - I've faced Nyx's that send this card and ngl it can be pretty annoying at start until resil is up. Even at just 2-3 there's value in this card, but I personally don't use either this or the previous one because I find more than enough value with base rift slash and I like buffing other things better for my playstyle.
Brutal Pursuer - This card is ONLY good if you're going off tank. Otherwise you're better off putting points elsewhere. The value of the move speed just isn't high enough on point tank.
Unyielding Advance - This is a pretty good filler card. If you find it suits you, then go for it! But it doesn't have a lot of value past 1-2 compared to others.
Frontline Commander - This card is amazing! On another character. Nyx's base kit needs too much boosting to justify space for this at a level where it's really useful. She's pretty CC heavy, so the move speed decrease just gives resi more value against her. But still give it a shot if you like it, despite what I said it's a pretty fun card. Just remember that my take on this card is an opinion despite me wording it like it's a fact.

Meh:
World Torn Asunder - When you get used to Rift Slash, it's not super hard to hit even at 100 units as long as you space yourself correctly. So the real value in this is hitting agile enemies like Vatu, Maeve, or VII. But it's not a card you want to put a lot of points out of, and you can still work around having it. Not a bad idea to have it as a 1-2 pointer to deal with champions like that though if you find it helps you! I'm just saying in general there's much more value elsewhere. Personally I don't use it at all, but give it a shot still to draw your own conclusion.
A Swift End - Devastating blows gets you way more value. It's there all the time and this is only usable on shield. At level 5 this adds ~360 damage to a single combo (3s), but that number really isn't exact and is likely a little lower. Just an estimate. Biggest argument for this card is you can re-proc it by strafing your shield, so it's shield duration + 3s. But if an enemy shield is in your way then you lose value unless your aim is to try and burst down the shield. The card is still fun though. So if you're not looking to be optimal, go for it! Same applies to some other cards above.

No:
True Freedom - If you take one thing away from this comment. Don't use this card. It's a scrub trap. There's better one pointers and when you get used to the character you'll find this card is just training wheels that don't even really need to exist. Even if you miss a hit on your weapon or hold it for a bit longer, the value is just too small.
The New Order - Not as bad as True Freedom is, but the value is way too low and other cards are just way better. Most chains will hit 1-2 enemies max. Even at 5 that's a 150-300 shield for way too many points.
Unyielding Advance - It's like using Guardian as an item: don't. People will buy wrecker and decimate your shield even with this at 5. And if they don't your shield will last more than long enough.
Face to Face - I mean, you can kind of meme with this, but even then the value is just bad. Base pull does it's job just fine, and using this to soften the blow from the other team building resi doesn't help a whole lot in comparison to other cards.

Builds
If anyone wants my builds for reference, I'll put them here. Just remember this is for how I play the character and what personally found me the most success:
AA= Abyssal Authority, CoC = Center of Combat, FC = Forever Changed, TLT = The Little Things, DB = Devastating Blows, BP = Brutal Pursuer
Balanced - CoC 4, AA 3, FC 3, DB 3, TLT 2. Main build I use almost all the time.
Bulky - FC 5, CoC 4, AA 3, TLT 2, DB 1. I use this build either when I need more health, or more often when I know enemies are going to be farther from me so I won't get value out of DB.
Damage - CoC 5, AA 4, DB 3, TLT 2, FC 1. I use this build when facing another Nyx or really bulky comps. Especially with Lilith as the support with 2 tanks. Really messes with her resources.
Off-Tank - CoC4, DB 4, TLT 3, BP 3, AA 1. As off tank you need that extra bit of movement speed. Even though it isn't substantial, it helps a lot. You're not the center of the fight as off-tank, so AA doesn't get as much value, but CoC adds to your damage. DB is at 4 so you can get stronger pokes from a bit farther and TLT 3 lets you rift slash more and keep that move speed up. Don't use it exclusively for the speed though.

Talents
Show of Force - This is my favorite talent for her by far. The extra second lets you deny more space and the cripple increases pick potential for you and your team. Biggest downside if there's a lot of CC on your team you'll lose value so you might be better off going Abyssal Breach in those cases. But you can definitely still work around it even then.
Abyssal Breach - The talent I used on point before they buffed Show of Force. Having your shield more often on point is really helpful and it punishes anyone trying to push past your shield in narrow spaces or catch you while you're strafing it in open ones. Great if your team has a lot of CC like I pointed out above. Also don't forget you can use your chain pull to bring people through the shield for that extra damage if you find a good chance for a pick. This goes for pulling enemies through it with your ult as well, but if resi is up it's not nearly as viable tech.
Subjugation - A lot of people say it's her best, but I say it's situational. If you end your aura early with it, you lose a lot of that nice damage and ult charge. But this talent is still really useful. Great as an off-tank talent if your team doesn't have a lot of useful CC so you get more value out of this from forcing resi or someone on the enemy team ignoring resi. Make sure to track who has it for you picks. On point you would only use this if you know the enemy has an agile champion your comp isn't equipped to deal with and you know you won't hit those Show of Force cripples. If your team has a lot of CC then Show of Force is the better off-tank talent.

Well, that's the end of the guide. I know that was a lot of text, but so are her ability descriptions in game lol. I hope that some of the info that I put here was found useful by someone. Take care and glhf!

2023.05.28 04:01 MooingAssassin Hey! I've got some ideas for some videos.

First off, I just want to say that while I watch funhaus religiously, my wife is enjoying our Saturday night going through the Sims and Dream Jobs videos. I'm in heaven.
Anyways, for her birthday she wants Pokemon Stadium for the N64. Not for the normal game, but for the mini-games. This would be a blast to watch, especially post-drunk stream. I can't tell you how many times we've played these games with friends, including:
Clefairy memory game
Sushi-Go-Round (lickatongue game)
and my personal favorite: the Harden game. Everyone loves to get hard (and it's the only game I can consistently win at).
Another idea: I was always disappointed that no one chose Gears of War for their favorite game to show Ryan- it seems just up his alley. Just imagine- loading up Gears of War 2 saves to the second level as Prescott gives a rousing speech and a massive, badass army rolls out to take on the locust. Then, another save goes forward to where Marcus is sniping at 5ish locusts, and if you hit five of them, he yells out *THAT'S FIVE MOTHER FUCKER*. Maybe finishing with a save at the end of the game when you're riding a brumak. I think he would resonate with that.
Last but not least, I feel as if the "interview your drunk self" videos that Roosterteeth did would be an excellent candidate for Funhaus to do post-drunk stream. Those videos stopped (I believe) because they involved intense binge drinking and nearly killed Blaine. But the Funhaus drunk streams are much more gradual of a drinking process, and could re-tap the potential of that hilarious series.
